Kumeu River Round Table (Knightsbridge, Northbrook IL): Nose: The nose is pure class and elegance and filled with ginger, stone fruits, bosc pears, yellow florals, peaches, cream tones, nectarines, nougat, and red apples. There is a lot of depth along with a maturity to the tones.
Taste: Full bodied with crisp, medium+ acidity. There is some density to the feel, but with an elegance to it along with stone fruits, bosc pear, yellow florals, peaches, creams, nougat, and red apples.
Overall: This is a stunning Chardonnay that is beautifully at it's peak. It shows off impeccable balance and elegance with a lot of depth across the nose and palate.

This has aged well. Still quite fresh and clean on the nose, just a touch of dilute tropical fruit and a nicely mineral edge. Fresh attack, almost quite light and hinting at a spritziness or pettillant nature without ever quite getting there. Broadens on the mid-palate to a buttery richness with some depth to it. Finishes well too. This is very decent and far more interesting than in its youth. Just about ****

This had the penetrating lime quality together with the grippy acrid oak that marks the grandest of burgundies - utterly wonderful
