  • Melbury is a plot whose vines are on the hillside, at the foot of Lake Hennessey at an altitude of 300m. This configuration allows the vines to sunbathe in the morning and maintain coolness during the hot afternoons.

Intense nose of violet, crushed strawberry and espresso.

Very textured mouth, pleasant and soft touch which announces that the cavalry is arriving: the juice settles in, dense and cocoa-like but with a nice balance. It’s an avalanche of black fruits on a bed of cocoa. I find that it is still a light Napa compared to what I was able to drink, the altitude and the presence of a lake at the foot of the vines must play a role. There is just the right acidity to set off a dense but digestible wine. Great finish on violet, cocoa and a fine woodiness which stretches over great length.

    I loved it

Algemeen / potentieel: Aangename, stoere eetwijn! 50 + Kleur: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 12 + Smaak / Afdronk: 15 + Algemeen / potentieel: 8 = 90/100

Colour: Deep dark red with a thin orange-red edge. Aroma / bouquet: Bold and dark aroma, dark fruit, mocha, cocoa. A certain earthiness with accents of mushrooms and truffles. Taste / Aftertaste: Tough, thick-juicy wine, firm tannins with a serious but pleasant bitter note. Also a wine of which I wonder if it will ever reach a tertiary softness. General / potential: Pleasant, sturdy food wine! 50 + Colour: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 12 + Taste / Aftertaste: 15 + General / potential: 8 = 90/100

  • Cali Cults in CLT thru the decades (MacDonald, Scarecrow, Bond, Schrader and more) (Charlotte, NC): Opened four hours in advance and double decanted. Rich aromas of dark fruits – blackberry and cassis. On the palate this was a thicker wine following the Scarecrow and somewhat viscous. Leathery tannins with some grippiness. A full-flavored and big wine with the most complexity in this flight – rich balance between red and black fruits. A super-tasty wine that paired best in the line-up with the Elk Chop meal. Great tonight with likely improvement in the coming years as tannins further integrate and flavors blossom, All this needs is time. 14.5 alcohol

  • En utmärkt Napa-cab. Frukten fortfarande närvarande och väl integrerad. Tobak och choklad. Betyget hade blivit ännu högre om jag inte stört mig en aning på den påtagliga alkoholhettan.

  • Decanted three hours. Dense and earthy with dark chocolate, espresso, and plentiful precise terroir that speaks of rocky loam and packed dirt. These Bond wines appeal to me with their unique expressions of place. They are on the opposite end of the spectrum from the cult Cabs that strive for perfect integration of all elements. Showing beautifully now.
