Dinner with Jim and Mary D, brought this to Posto Italiano in Avalon, a corkage friendly place, excellent food. This bottle in by cellar from circa 2010...decanted at the restaurant for about 20 minutes, drank over an hour.
Dark garnet color, no separation. Nose showing dark and blue fruit, leather, faint floral/lavender, earth. Rich palate of black cherry, tart blackberry, cassis, spice, licorice. dark fruit persist through the mid palate. Full body and long finish
A more youthful appearance and expression than expected with a 17 yr old Cab. Fully mature wine, nicely aged, great showing. Could still go another 10 years (IMO) if wanting to age - but definitely worth opening now. Decant helps, the wine continued to improve in the glass

It is drinking exceptionally well. First thing you notice is how well the fruit is integrated. No tannins whatsoever. Long, long finish. Superb mouthfeel. Even better as we proceed half way through the bottle. This is what cabernets should be judged against for quality.

Black currant, cassis, some graphite on the finish. Medium bodied, the fruit is restrained and fairly subtle for a California Cabernet. Everything is well integrated, very good now.

Out of half bottle, black cherries, blueberries, currants, licorice, and earthiness in the nose. Black cherries, blackberries, currants, chocolate, and licorice in the flavor. Full bodied wine with a long finish.
