Ruby red in color. 14.2% ABV. Ethereal nose of red fruits, cloves, soil and flowers. Medium body with exquisite acidity. Surprising concentration and power. Cranberry, pomegranate, black cherry and earth on the palate. The finish is exceptionally long and silky. I wasn't sure what to expect from a 16 year old bottle of Williams Selyem but the power and finesse here took me aback. What a triumph. Aging brilliantly. Best over the next 2-3 years.

Largely agree with all commenters. Juicy, really juicy with black cherry, earth, pretty high acid and alcohol, but not out of whack. Just the character, in great balance. At least 1 minute finish, no kidding. Ready now or will last 3-4 more years, tops. Doubt it will improve over that time, and more likely to be more acid-predominant and fruit will fade. I'd say drink it now. Just delicious stuff.

Very yummy red and black cherry with spice hints throughout, nicely balanced as well. Just a bit more firm tannins than I'd prefer, and finishing with some sweeter fruit than ideal. But besides that, lots of good concentrated fruit here. Good now, with no fear of falling apart.

Absolutely delicious and full of fruit, earthiness and acidity. We enjoyed the wine with Roast Duck the first night, and then we used the leftover duck to make a risotto the second night.

2006 Williams Selyem Pinot Noir Coastlands Vineyard. Dark garnet; berry, redwood, stemmy, raisin, pomegranate nose; big body; bigger style; high alcohol and hot finish detract.
