  • I remember saving some muscadets for aging as an experiment after tasting an '88 Pepiere with Marc Olivier at Chambers St Wines back in the mid-2000's, and being amazed at the evolution these wines experienced with 15+ years of bottle age. I first cracked an '05 since I have five of them remaining, but unfortunately, it was oxidized, likely due to the synthetic closure. This was my backup, and it was clear through the bottle that the color was much better (not dark gold like the '05). Lovely limestone and citrus nose, developing a bit of a richer mouthfeel than a young Muscadet. Finishes with abundant minerality. Perfect with seafood.

  • A pale silver color similar to the look of condensation on crystal. The nose and palate are one with mineral, lime, limeade and wet limestone. The acidity on this isn’t as sharp and focused as a year ago, but this is a very satisfying pour nonetheless. 12% alc. With crab and shrimp pizza from the Bistro. Highly Recommended.

  • One could do worse than to open this little wine on the boat ride down the main channel to and from The Pointe for dinner. Pale silver moon dripped from the glass, like the moonlight on the lake for the return trip. Bread dough rising and smoky flint rise from the glass. More dough on the attack, lemon drop, mineral, wet limestone and an almost saline quality. Rounder and fuller than it was last year. Stunningly good wine by itself. Sipping it, the thought of smoked oysters or steamed clams easily comes to mind. The only thing missing was sea-salt air. 12% alc. with Dortons at Smith Mtn Lake. See details in TN at Smith Mtn
