At or just past peak !! I always enjoy this old vine zin from Fred Scherrer’s family home in Alexander Valley, still tastes great !! A perfect cork after over a dozen years in the bottle, easily removed. Consumed this balanced Zinfandel in one day. Medium burgundy color with medium clarity. Aromas and flavors of blackberries, plums, and black currant with a medium finish. The last bottle of this vintage remaining in my cellar. Always a great wine from an excellent site in eastern Alexander Valley with great winemaking by Fred Scherrer.

Last of my three bottles - the first two were consumed in mid-2012. Drank with tuna and salmon sushi. Time has been kind to this wine, as it was wide open from the pop and pour and ready to go. Loads of cherry and bramble. Very good depth and length with a silky mouthfeel. Just a touch of tannin left. Could have used just a touch more acidity, but overall, a really wonderful Zin.

Agree with UP4WINE. I don't feel my tastes favor zinfandel any more. This wine drank fine, but even for the low price I would rather have an entry-level Bordeaux, syrah, or Spanish wine. Anyway, this is a restrained style, made even more so by it's age. It has good acidity, a touch of minerality, and mostly nice red fruit.

Drank my last bottle which I'd kept around as a science experiment. It was surprisingly good.

Very nice wine. Not over ripe at all. True to it's Zinness. I would drink Zinfandel more often if it was this balanced and delicious.
