A little younger than I usually drink them, but this is drinking very well. Popped and poured at cellar temp. Lovely perfumed nose with red brambly fruit, roses and a hint of lavender. Nice sweet blackberry fruit, similar floral perfume and excellent crunchy acidity. This is a particularly good year for this wine in Fred’s accomplished hands. May pick up some additional complexity, but drinking so well right now it will be hard to wait.

2 hours of air in decanter to an almost translucent purple with a wide pink rim in glass. Aromas of red fruit, leather, and oak. The nose is strong and perfumed in a good way. The palate has red fruit and oak with soft, fine-grained and dusty tannins. The low acidity clears to a long finish of red fruit and oak. The palate and structure are elegant and it keeps it from feeling like some of the more mass market jammy, bombastic zins. There seems to be a definite oak influence, but it is balanced. Overall, enjoyable and well made.

No rating on purpose. I'm not sure if this is ready. There's a little bit of powdered sugar sweetness (just a dusting, nothing cloying) that makes me want to hold off for a while. Suggest holding until 2024 and even that might be early.

No detailed notes, but really enjoyed this bottle. Made in a lighter style than most zins, with a mix of red and black fruit.

Always solid and while these age beautifully they never last in my cellar because they are terrific young. Red berry and every so little cedar box.
