Xmas Wine #2! A supposedly solid producer from quite a tight vintage. Let's see if 18 years is enough for this one.
Color: Deep, dark Ruby Nose: Medium intensity, notes of stewed cherries and plums, old leather, mushrooms, light balsamic, pencil shavings and soft oak vanillas Palate: Medium plus intensity, high acidity, Medium plus firm tannins, notes of dried cherries and red plums, soft mushroom, light balsamic, light graphite, light vanilla and integrated up front oak shavings Finish: Medium plus length with notes of dried cherries, mushrooms and puckering acidity and oak
Even after almost 2 decades this wine is still going strong! It's modestly rich and well composed and the tannin structure still tells me this might last another 10 years, maybe more! Thay said it is a bit "raw" still but drinking generously. Truly a gorgeous wine that went well with some Beef Wellington!

Delicious. 10 yrs old and still going strong. I'm glad I have another bottle or two because it's still young. Velvet-y fruits, big mouth feel (tannins) and a long finish. This is a big wine!

Bill's Monthly Lunch - December 2012 (Le Gavroche): I really liked this but for some reason didn’t have much written down for it. Nice nose with sweet dark fruits, good acidity and drinking well. Very good.
