Despite the wine is nearly 18 years old, it is still very alive. It is a blend of styles : power from Aussie Shiraz and the elegance from Rhone. After 90 mins of decanting, my mouth still feels like attacked by unlimited jabs, but the body has this kind of sikly smooth texture. Finishing is good with just right amount of spice. Last but not least, a killer hook to the head by the alcohol. Very interesting. I wonder what would a newer vintage feels like.

NobleRottersSydney - 2010 & prior (Fix, St James, Sydney): {cork, 15%} [DavidM] Shows every sign of the 15% alcohol; A porty, pruney style of red, full-bodied, with low/medium dusty tannins and medium acidity. But too much alcohol has robbed it of freshness; it’s not too sweet or anything, just unbalanced for me. Odd, because I’ve had other vintages of this which were much better.

If you like your Syrah/Shiraz with a thick, syrupy feel and a flavor profile of licorice like a Nebbiolo, this is the wine for you. It’s not so much for me.

This was the wotn for several at the party. Deep purple, nose of dark fruit and bell pepper. Good finish and nice flavors. Lots of wine consumed so I am kind of lacking in more detail. I ranked it #3 behind two barolos but nebbiolo is just my go to grape. I thought this was better than the bottle I opened a few months ago. 92 --93

Pop and pour. Full bodied deep purple very fragrant nose long finish. Was the favorite for several of our group. While I enjoyed it, the two barolo I served were more to my liking but that is just where my sweet spot lies. Very nice wine that I don't think is in danger of fading anytime soon.
