75% Tempranillo + 15% Garnacha, Mazuela and Graciano Alc 12.5% Orange rim. Nose more expressive than the 1988 Imperial. More orange peel, camphor, traditional rioja here. Palate didn’t quite live up to the nose but still good. Preferred it to the Imperial but both are the weakest vintages so far in this vertical.

Scented sandalwood, exotic licourice spices with stewed exotic tea leaves and cherry fruits. A delight. Balanced and respectable.

K&L Wine Merchants Special Rioja Tasting - Cune/Contino (K&L Wine Merchants(Redwood City, CA)): Brick red color with thin meniscus and aromatic spiced cherry, tobacco, and dust aromas. On the palate, it's medium-bodied with a silky texture, and cherry, spice, and dill flavors. Long finish. 13% alcohol
