  • Had the bottle for 12 years, consumed today with a cod fish steamed with curry spices. Drinks marvellous now. Easily has several years ahead, but very happy to drink today. Delicious honey with a subtle citrus touch, buttered golden kiwi, Piemont hazelnuts . Young and ripe at the same time. Stellar and unforgettable. Awe!

  • Annual Pilgrimage to Piedmont - 2019 Edition; 10/17/2019-10/20/2019 (Piedmont, Italy): A good 8 years since we tried this last ( Papies a disappointing 89) and definitely now was a lot better and maybe our palate has matured to get it. This wine is not an exercise in flamboyance but a clean, focussed expression. The oak is now fully assimilated, more mineral, clean, with that nose of Italian nothingness to paraphrase one of our teachers. It’s classy and elegant without trying and although one can not pinpoint what exactly that is for sure its there and this makes it special. Not for everyone in that sense but a good 92-93

    92/93

  • Gaja Langhe Chardonnay Gaia & Rey 2006

Medium intense aromas with golden yellow fruit, butterflower, light honey, nut and caramel. Light salt too. Great bodied wine that really wraps around in a velvety way. Really delicious with buttery and creamy feeling. Appealing fruit image with light tropical fruits, some bitter fruit-shells and good salty finish. Italy's best white wine also in this tighter vintage. 94 points.

  • Complex nose - yellow stone fruit, exotic fruit notes, cream, minerality. Good weight on the palate, fresh, concentrated fruit, the alcohol is showing a little. Well balanced overall, mineral and quite persistent. No rush drinking up. 92-94
