  • Nebbiolo Dinner (Imperial Treasure Shanghai, Ngee Ann City, Singapore): A lovely wine at a beautiful place now. I have had the 1971 Granbussia before and, frankly, this was not far behind. Perhaps lighter, maybe a touch less complex, but it made up for all that with a wonderful deliciousness and elegance. There was a touch of earthy, barnyard funk on the nose along with savoury broiled meat notes that took their place amidst sweeter stewed fruit and fragrant herb and spice aromas. Quite nice. The palate was perfectly resolved and drinking wonderfully well, with soft, velvety tannins and lovely fresh acidity all perfectly integrated with sweet flavours of stewed cherries and red berries, which were then lightly seasoned with earthy herbs and a dash of toasty spice as the wine glided into a long, elegant finish. This was pure and lovely stuff; it may not have had the greatest weight, but it was still a really complete wine, with nice sense of fullness and balance to it. Really enjoyable.
