Some earthy development sneaking in. The nose is bright and punchy showing a touch of menthol, plenty of rose petal and fresh cherry fruit. It is rich and deep, with good underlying chew and a finish of authority and expansion.

Quite closed on the nose and after a double decant and loads of swirling just hints of dark fruit, spice and meat came out. Dense and concentrated palate. Great balance and texture and have about 90 mins started to open. Left a glass for day 2 and surprisingly this did not hold up well.

Much more open than the last bottle. But this did come together the way I wanted. A little tart of the finish and more faded fruit but lovely spice.

Zachy's La Paulee 2020; 3/5/2020-3/6/2020 (Le Bernardin Prive): 1681/4080. Somehow quite acidic but not oxidized. Maybe just too young? Underlying wine is good depth. Hard to rate.
