Yes, 40 years old and yes, maybe just a bit over its prime, . But what a great wine this still is. Decanted for 5 hours and got rid of all the sediment. Somewhat brownish color and the nose is quite typical for such an old wine. The palate still has the typical brunello fruit in it. After all these years the tannines are softish. At some time you have to open these old bottles and what a pleasure it can give. This will go very well with the ossobuco we are having tonight. 91 points
