In fine shape, the wine barely penetrating a few mm from the bottom of the cork.
Still a very deep dark claret / people colour tending to more of a crimson / claret at the rim. Very young looking for 20 years old.
On the nose there is a lovely leafiness with supportive blackcurrant fruit. Swirling releases richer fruit with a slight mocha accent.
On the palate there is good depth of fruit, supportive acidity and a hint of balsamic/barnyard more often encountered in Italian reds. The leafiness is also there in the background but it does play second fiddle to the fruit. No noticeable tannins and a decent length to the quite light finish - nicely avoiding a sense of heaviness, and so inviting another sip.
Overall, really enjoyable and whilst not fitting the unfair cliché of Aussie reds, doesn't stick out as stylistically very far away from (say) the better Margaret River Cab blends.

Lots of cedar aromas prominent, there is also blackberry and mint. Medium bodied, needs time for the oak to recede, I think it has enough fruit for this to happen in the next 5 years. Very good apart from the oak, but was always going to struggle coming after the Palmer.

NobleRottersSydney - Western Australia (Darling Mills, Glebe): Deep black wine. An almost Grange-like nose of meaty black fruits laced with chocolate and vanilla. Powerful palate, with lots of fine-grained tannins, full-bodied, with grweat intensity and length. Too primary still to really enjoy. Keep.

NobleRottersSydney - South Aust trip (3) - McLaren Vale (Wirra/Hardy's/Limeburgers/Universal): Deep black. Super blackberry fruit. Silky fine mouthfeel with beautiful rich fruit flavours & great length. Absolutely delicious wine.
