  • Nose: black tea, Blueberry, hints of mushroom, hints of game, orange rind, hints of rose
Notes: Drank from a magnum, this wine does taste a little more advanced than its age should suggest and is quite mature. With quite a classic Gros F&S notes, this wine is relatively light bodied and showed quite some mushroom kind of nose. Although I enjoyed the wine but I cannot say this can be considered a top wine from the Domaine. I sometimes find Echezeaux from this Domaine a little inconsistent and other vineyards from the Domaine might show more consistency.

  • 07 is one of Bernard Gros' favorit vintages. This Ech proves his point. It's delish and the nose is to die for. Complex and intreaguing.

  • Deep red fruit, earth, iron and background spice on the nose. More red fruits, savory spice and some light herbal notes on the palate, really nice depth and poise....finishes long, definitely grand cru performance. Very well balanced structure and acidity, this is definitely not showing everything that's yet to come and I think it will continue to evolve nicely for a while as it develops and integrates further.

  • C: Quite a dark colour, purple tinge, no signs of aging.
N: Lovely complexity already. Red berries, some darker berries, earth, truffles, slightest hint of barnyard.
P: Beautiful, smooth, full, round, but incredibly savoury. How can a wine be this savoury (great acid, great structure, makes your mouth water) whilst being so round and full of lovely sweet fruit. Long finish.
O: Fantastic wine. Perhaps quite "modern" in style, which suits me well. Could be slightly more complex on the palate (as it is on the nose), but perhaps this will come with time.

(Gros Frère & Soeur Echézeaux) A sweet and nicely focused nose. In the mouth it's full and intense and coupled to slightly grainy tannins - what a difference a few more vine years makes! Good length with plenty of barrel flavour. Good wine.
