Another nice '07 Le Moine. Gevry for sure in character with deep earthy and almost smokey tones. Not all that complex but surprisingly understated and almost elegant. This bottle exceeded expectations. I will note it's a ridiculously heavy bottle with a crazy deep punt.

A day tasting in the Willamette Valley with the usual suspects (Oregon): The nose here captivated me for a good while. Initially it reminded me of strawberry pipe tobacco along with roses, fresh cranberries and stems. A complex nose and deliciously so. The massive amount of sweet tannins this has hits you right off the bat, I've seen sweet tannins in wine before but this had a ton of them, and in a good way. Delicious red fruit throughout with a long palate and nice, long finish. The balance here is beatiful, I thought this was drinking great now and was remarkable. One of my favorite red burgs ever. 93+

Lucien Le Moine at Scott Paul, and other WV because we're there (Carlton, OR): Soft floral funk on the nose. In fact, it is all quite funky, but in a very good way... really interesting the different levels of pleasing funk here. Great mid palate, with fantastic, pleasing fruit, but also a bit of rubber tire. Great structure and balance. Awesome fruit on the finish, with impressive structure despite the drinkability. Seamless fruit. Minutes after my last sip I loved the flavors in my mouth and craved more. A very pretty Charmes-Chambertin.
