  • One of the many library releases from Bouchard. From the get-go, this soft, sweet and pliant with pungent sous bois notes, Gevrey game, a certain graphite-like mineral definition with soft notes of caramel and coffee. Round, supple and rich with lower acidity and revealing more autumn spices with air time. Delicious stuff, though I recall a bit more style and resolution in the 1957 Vosne-Romanee AC tasted a while back. This particular bottle doesn't seem to be going anywhere- a much slower evolution. 93-94.

  • Deep brilliant color; classic sous bois yet oddly barely tertiary; youthful and unevolved for a 60+ year old wine! More understandable as I learn that this sat in the Bouchard cellars until a late release in 1989. Excellent for a village level wine and a tribute to wines stored unmoved and undisturbed for decades. 93+
