  • Decanted for 3 hours, medium dark ruby, a bit ruddy. Complex nose throws out notes of red fruits, freshly tilled soil, dried herbs (sage??), sous bois, iron-laden minerals, deciduous undertones and a touch of clay. Additional aromas of anise, cola and sandalwood emerge as this airs in glass. Moderate body. On the palate, cherry fruits pierced by an impression of iron and earthy minerals just dominates throughout. Decent acidity keeps everything fresh while the chewy tannins show surprisingly structure on the lingering close.
Really nice and a "QPR" Grand Cru, drink now and over the next 5+ years.
