Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • This wine was bought direct from the producer and held by us ever since. A beautiful lime gold colour. On the nose very strong petrol with a hint of citrus, clearly an exceptional aged riesling, from the first moment the cork was pulled. The first taste was the powerful acidity supported by deep strong mineral structure, again clearly the wine was a grand cru. As the wind developed over 2-3 hours it became more balanced and had good (but not exceptional) length. Perhaps what is now lacking is any fruit sugar in the middle, which makes it taste slightly unbalanced almost strangely like a great young wine. the wine has the 'taste of a sunny hillside' found in great alsace wines. The wine went very well with food (home cocked chinese) and had the freshness and acidity to cut through even strong flavours.
