  • Still deep in color. A rich wine with lots of dark berry fruits in the nose and flavor. Blackberries, black cherries, black raspberries, and blueberries, along with licorice, minerals, and a floral note. Very well balanced, nice complexity, full bodied, and with a long smooth finish.

  • Huge nose of dark fruit, spice, currant and leather.
Very balanced, the palette is all earthiness. Spice, leather, forest floor mix with subtle black fruit, and a hint of cola on the finish. Almost 16 alcohol is not at all apparent. The balance of this wine is what really stands out.

  • 30 minute decant through an aerator. Blend of 82% Syrah, 12% mourvedre and 6% grenache. Purplish color with a little browning at the rim. Strong nose of blueberries, blackberries, plum, chrysanthemums, cedar and alcohol. Something else that I can't yet describe - maybe beef bouillon? Very unique flavor that leans more toward crushed black pepper, gravel, nail polish and spice with dark berries in the background and some cola on the finish. Also some pretty high alcohol. Medium bodied with medium tannins and acidity. Pretty long finish. Will give it a 91 for uniqueness.

3 hours later this has lost much of the complexity and fruit and cola flavors and is now dominated by crushed black pepper and gravel. Dropped a point from 91 to 90.
