A touch pruney initially, but with a herbal freshness coming through. Good acidity and nicely savoury with a fragrant lift to the more Gevrey earthiness. ****

Bryan's Barhod Offline (28-50, London): A touch lighter than the barthod on the nose, but still quite drk in profile. Lighter and fresher on the palate though. An earthy meatiness here. General consensus (of three) is that there's a gevrey character. With time this opens up and shows more elegance and more of a fragrant, floral element. Showing better than the Barthod. ****

Chambolle & Gevrey @ Trompette (La Trompette, London): Double blind. Quite a rich, bacon fat nose. Plush. Fresher with nice acidity and balance on the palate. Freshens up and shows more acidity with air. ****

A burgundy lunch (La Trompette, Chiswick, London): Fine, restrained, red fruited, the oak absorbed and giving a subtle sense of luxury
