Community Tasting Notes (2) Avg Score: 90 points

  • Slow-oxed for 9 hours upon serving into Sy glass (“Root” into “Flower” day): Pale ruby with

Forest floor, white spices, mature red cherries.

Well integrated now and perfect maturation.

94-95 points easy but would be great in second round for sure.

Second round: more fruits, mushroom notes.

  • Lunch with Robin & Friends: Mid- mahogany. A developed nose with a very much tertiary fruit profile: ferruginous, crayon, damp undergrowth, super mushroomy with that tilled soil/truffle character. A hint of floral and even a touch of stewed rhubarb. The palate is slightly chewy with a sinewy texture yet as the wine evolved over a half hour the tannins felt finer-grained and smoother than at first taste and the fruit seems to linger on the palate.
Certainly, an unusual wine that seems on its way out and too evolved yet despite the abundance of iron shavings there was some fruit underneath that crept out later. Still, a tough wine to imbibe with a distinct medicinal character. Hmm.
