  • 13,5% alcohol.

Deep, moderately translucent cherry red color with a pale, almost colorless rim. Looks surprisingly youthful for its age. Fine-tuned and quite attractive nose with somewhat brooding aromas of forest fruits, some yellow tomato, a little bit of beet root, light black raspberry tones, a developed hint of meat consommé and a touch of wizened dark plums. The wine is dry, medium-bodied and quite juicy on the palate with flavors of tart lingonberries and some cranberries, a little bit of bloody game, light brambly raspberry tones, a hint of sour cherry bitterness and a matured touch of beef jerky. The overall feel is quite stern and structured with the high acidity and quite noticeable, firmly grippy tannins. The mouthfeel is quite silky, yet rough on its edges and the overall character is ripe and juicy, yet dry and cold instead of sweet and supple. The finish is dry, savory and moderately grippy with complex, crunchy flavors of tart cranberries and lingonberries, some sour cherry bitterness, a little bit of savory wood spice, light earthy tones, an hint of game and a mushroomy touch of sous-bois.

A classic, beautifully developed and quite structure-driven 1er Cru NSG with a great combination of dry, still youthful fruit and more developed, earthy and savory tones. The ripeness of 2005 vintage is quite present, but it might not be that obvious because of the high acidity and slightly bitter edge of the fruit. Although the wine is starting to show some developed characteristics, it is still quite far away from its apogee. Most likely the wine will continue to develop for a decade more and keep for much longer. Very lovely effort, good value at 50€.

  • Very Vosne like which isn't surprising since the vineyard borders that appellation. So, more spice notes than iron or rust. Dark fruits and a bit of acid. Profound, no, but a very enjoyable wine that is ready to drink. I plan on drinking the rest of mine over the next 3-5 years.

  • Smells of earth, barnyard, dark fruits, cherry, & currants. Tastes of smooth light blue fruits, strawberry, cherry, stone, & slight earth. Medium+ bodied. Best after 25 minutes (not decanted).

  • Part of a 5 wine blind Bordeaux/Burgundy cellar tasting. Decanted for 1.5 hours. Varying reviews by the group (1st-3rd). Smelled of figs, dates, and fruits. Tasted very balanced - cherries, chewy, and a nice bite to balance the fruit. This was the best experience we have had with this bottle. We will be sure to continue decanting it in the future.
