Very good fill level and bright colour in the bottle. Very volatile on the nose to begin with. Much more secondary flavours of earth, mushroom. Heavy. A mile away from the 2001. The colour was a bit murky and I found it clumsy, clunky on the palate.

The 4th bottle of a case and the best to date. It has taken 20 years for this wine to reach its peak. The tannins have softened and it has opened up. Classic fragrant perfumed cherry and wild strawberry fruit overlaying a mineral background. Developing tertiary notes of forest floor, truffle and sweet spice. The tannins are still there but a perfect match for food as many wines from this vintage are. Estimated drinking window 2014-2020.

95 Burgundy (La Trompette, London): Full garnet to a muddy ruby core. Spicy. Some evolution and a little VA. Soft velvet with a broken glass spine. Then it tightens further and becomes dry and surly. One for the masochists. Bare *** with fingers crossed. ?86

Good colour but little on the nose. Cherry and plum but a bit harsh - leave a little longer?

Decent enough old burg paired will with various cow's milk cheeses.
