Subsequent notes on this wine from about 5 years ago. Medium ruby red in color with slight clearing at the edges. Full, fragrant & attractive nose of ripe red fruit aromas of cherries, strawberries & currants with earthy/dusty overtones, floral notes of roses, spices, herbs, tobacco, some tar notes, minerals & cedar in the background. Medium-full bodied with a good concentration of balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of sweet cherries, strawberries, pomegranate & cranberries with spices & herbs, minerals & a hint oak. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with extended airing but at 17 years of age, it is close to or at its peak of development although it should hold here for a while longer. However, I doubt any further development will occur from additional aging.

(NUBIOLA Giorgio Pelissero Barbaresco) UPDATE: Creative Juice When you’ve read one too many hyperbolic offers or marketing campaigns for the next must-have wine (or gadget), this puts it all neatly into perspective... ...or you could use it as reverse inspiration when you start to take your own artistry (or the world) just a bit too seriously: http://bit.ly/ggiqYg - Jon Rimmerman ****************************** Barbaresco Dear Friends, I made a deal with myself that I would not offer anything from the just-released Wine Advocate as a reactionary “jump on the bandwagon” ploy...that lasted all of three days. After tasting the set of new wines from Giorgio Pelissero, they deserve to be in your cellar, high scores or not. The entire portfolio deserves your attention but two wines stood out for me – the 2007 Nubiola and his incredible 2004 Riserva. The Nubiola is arguably among the finest price/value wines of an excellent vintage and the Riserva, an exceedingly rare and precious bottle (that has never before made it to our shores), is in another league from just about everything else in the region. If it means anything, I asked two Barbaresco old-timers (who often give me tips ahead of the curve) about the 2004 Riserva - both of them tried it at a winemakers dinner in Alba where it was the consensus wine of the night, ahead of 2002 Monfortino. They also said it was one of the 3-4 finest wines produced in the outstanding 2004 vintage (Barolo or Barbaresco). Enough said. This parcel is directly from the winery cellar with perfect provenance: 2007 Giorgio Pelissero Barbaresco “Nubiola” - EXTREMELY LIMITED at this price (about the same as in Europe) 2004 Giorgio Pelissero Barbaresco “Riserva” (50th Anniversary/Vanotu) - (this is not the regular 2004 Vanotu, which is around , this is a special Riserva wine never made before) (there are only 75 bottles of this wine, not kidding – it’s playing in a league normally held by Sori Tilden and Costa Russi with a modern meets traditional approach that is enticing indeed – if you are into the rarest and most collectable wines of Piedmont, this is nearly impossible to find and it makes something like Gaja seem mass-produced – JR) Please give us your maximum number of each and we will allocate accordingly To order: niki@garagistewine.com This parcel is set to arrive in late January (please check OARS for local pick up after Feb 1st). It will ship during the Spring shipping season. Out of state orders will be held for free under ideal storage conditions (56 degrees/70%humidity) until shipping is possible. Locals may pick up at their leisure. For current local pick up and arrival/ship information, please see your OARS link below (at the bottom of this offer) - don’t know how to access your OARS? Hits all the right Barbaresco notes. It has enough tannin and acidity to keep a bit longer, but it’s very good now and I am drinking it. Needs food.
