Community Tasting Notes (9) Avg Score: 91.5 points

  • Burnt sienna bricky color to clear rim; blood orange and golden raisin notes over classic old sous bois and autumnal burgundy on the nose; great texture/viscosity on the palate; enveloping mature fruit, velvety balance, resolved tannins, ideal level of acidity carries things to a long finish. In a great place right now. A generous, caressing wine with a more “feminine” and regal style to it right now. 93+
Addendum: This is more exuberant, fresher liveliness of fruit on second day. 94

  • My last bottle and it was flawed. Nothing obvious, just no life, no fruit. No TCA or oxidation detected.Bearing in mind the last bottle in January was superb this was a shame and finished a bad few days of flawed bottles.

  • Very pale red but bright and no browning. No decant, just pop and pour, cool from cellar. Straight off intense red fruit nose, v fragrant but taut. Taste brilliant from the first sip. Red fruits with sousbois underneath, all in a tight 1993 frame. Very intense deep with great freshness and balance. With time nose developed with coffee and floral notes. Deepened on palate with richer fruits coming through. This was a brilliant bottle.

  • Slightly bricking medium dark cherry red colour ; red fruit, strawberry nose with a touch of brett; delicious, rich, tart cherry, wild cherry, red fruit palate; medium-plus finish, Lovely elegant burgundy---How can anyone not like this style of wine?

  • Tasted blind. Licorice and prunes on the nose, very extracted. On the palate it is expansive, with notes of earth and a sweet finish, hints of black pepper. I didn't like this very much, and when I discovered what it was thought it was very atypical for the appellation.

Burgundy-Report

(Esmonin Frédéric Ruchottes-Chambertin) Deep ruby colour though there's more of an amber caste than the Mazy. The nose shows more oak, but this slowly fades to leave chocolate cake, plum and eventually a toasty cherry note. The palate has good fat and sweet, slowly fading fruit. The tannin is fully resolved though the acidity shows just a little tartness at the end. Less rounded than the Mazy, but despite the tart finish, more than pleasant.
