Spectacularly consistent bottle to bottle; we still joke about my having literally tripped over an unopened case of this at a wine shop years ago. And what a find! Still transitioning from secondary to tertiary; sous bois, celery salt, beef bouillon; that rewarding upper register orange note you often get in a great aging burgundy; hints of brown sugar on the long finish. 94+

(Lastella Import) From the second this was poured in the glass, this wine was singing! A very intense, complex nose of sappy aged red and citrus fruits come through stitched with picture perfect sous bois characteristics that show beautiful interplay vs. the remaining fruit and seem to change before your eyes! Top notch quality here. Iron-like minerality becomes more to the forefront with intense damp soil/black truffle scents. Rich, integrated tannins that show an underlining power but no austerity. Absolutely no rush on this bottle, could easily go another 10+years. Good volume and richness in the mouth, very true to the vintage. Serious stuff. Grand Vin performance.

This was far less autumnal than the last bottle I had of this wine; fullish, heavier than a '78 Beaune 1er tasted immediately prior; savory and with surprisingly youthful intensity; opens up to a very savory boeuf bourguignon character, and a trickle of licorice coats the throat on the finish. Loads of life left in this.

Still fresh but fading fruit with iron and blood. Called it a 76 or 79 Gevrey or NSG in blind.

Still barely entering tertiary character this was lush and chocolatey, soft-textured, rich and long. 93+
