Classic St Estephe. Decanted for 3 hours and this has to be the Englishman of the left bank bordeux. Reserved, true to land, and full of character. Garnet in color, medium to full bodied consistency. Boquet not in full bloom, but more pronounced than others from the northern most AOC of the left bank. Aromas of black pepper and green bell pepper, dark chocolate, ink, dry raisins. Very dry on the palate with a medium finish. Went very well with the filet mignon we had.
This wine is certainly old world and does not try to impress. This is not one to have at the bar while waiting for the date to arrive. This is the holy water to be offered on the altar of a steak au poivre. This is what warms the spirit and body when the mercury sinks into the mouth of the night. This is not a flashy wine, but rather a steady steed that is true to spirit and sure of foot. Very good St Estephe!
(This was my very first purchase of a Bordeux and was bought from the duty free shop at Charlesde Gaulle airport while coming back for the first time from Italy. Brought a lot of memories back. Glad I had picked a good one.)

Taste the alcohol immediately, as well as blue cheese, and truffle. Sharp-edged wine even after aging for years.
