  • Dark fruit here but muted. Drinkable but well past prime. Better late than never.

  • Still showing just as well as last time though the lactic note wasn't present. Nose is so classically Bordeaux: tobacco, coffee, earth, cassis, sweet dark cherry, celery seed (the slight pyrazine green edge to remind you it is Bordeaux), old cedar and a touch of graphite. Palate has just a bit of dusty tannin remaining and abundant red fruited acid keeping things so fresh. Finish is medium plus with dark cherry and a slight anise note that I find hugely appealing. Beautiful today and I'm sure it will hold for a while longer yet.

  • (I brought this to our tasting so it was not blind to me) slight cheesy note on opening, but is blew off. Cherry fruit, mindful of brunello. A bit rustic and earthy. Nice nose, and had one of the more resolved palates of the night. This will hold well for a few years and may unwind more on the nose.

  • More Weeknight Tasting in KW (Dave's House): As I understand, this was double decanted prior to the tasting, served blind and followed for approximately one hour. Showing striking similarity to the other wines this evening, this shows currants, red berries, pencil lead, and light bell pepper. With further air, this really opened up nicely, showing real earthiness and decomposing leaves. There was a bit of a cheesy/lactic note on first pour that seems to fade with time in the glass. On the palate, showing currants and red fruits, earth, brown sugar, and a touch of pyrazine. Tannins are still prevalent and the acidity is slightly less than medium. Finish is moderate with just a hint of heat. I guessed Bordeaux, but got the vintage way off. On first pour, this seemed much younger.
