Light and elegant, the 1990 St George is an understated wine with violet and cedar wood on the nose, and a soft blend of prunes, chocolate and blackcurrant on the palate. Delicious after an hour in a decanter, the wine still has at least 10 years of life.

Color suggests 'only' 10-15yrs old not 27! Huge nose. Spice and cigar box after 5 mins in the glass...... but after 30mins It's loses some fruit and gets a bit harsh on the finish. Day 2 it hasn't improved.

Les's bottle. Presents sweeter than European wines we've just had, so someone guesses Australia pretty quick. I note the similarity to Napa and suggest Coonawarra and Wynn's John Riddoch, at which point we were stuck, as higher-end Lindemans aren't known here. Pleasing red fruit and mint, drinking well.

Blind Tasting - Battle of the States: Redcurrant, leather and mint. Medium bodied, good tannin resolution with some sweet red fruits still present. Very good!

Very old nose, with notes of beef stock, cumin, cinnamon and peppermint. On the palate, intense blackberry flavour and grainy tannins. Lovely, but just hanging on; drink now.
