This was just awesome. Not decanted. Some sediment on last pour, so decant if desired. This was so elegant and the dark fruit and pepper was so perfectly balanced. The concentration was great, but it was a decidedly light-to-medium-bodied wine at this stage of its maturity, which I love. I'd say drink now, as this is at peak.

Cork broke in half and seemed slightly soft like last time, but no sign of seepage or other issues. 90 minute decant then drank over 2+ hours. Maybe lost half a step since last bottle a year ago. Still a fine batch of juice, just more briney on the mid palate and more sour on the finish than I recalled. Great pairing with lamb. I still think this has a few years to go but why wait, give it a longish decant and enjoy.

Wonderful syrah. Very rich and expressive without the tannic, bitter funk that many “designer syrahs” have. Probably the best it will be now and for another couple years.

(Betz Family Winery La Cote Rousse Syrah Red Mountain) A nose to linger over with smoke, bacon fat, red and black fruit, and kisses of chocolate. Seamlessly stitched together on a palate rich with fruit and perfectly balanced acidity. Sails off into the distance. 100% Syrah. Ciel du Cheval and Kiona vineyards. Sampled at 68 degrees

The wine benefited from a slight decant - 45 minutes. It improved throughout the night. There is ample dark fruits with notes of spice. Drink up.

4 hour decant. Fruit on the nose. Balanced notes of candied cherries, tobacco, pepper and graphite. Really nice, went great with cheeseburgers
