  • My last Arcadian chardonnay, probably ever. And its great to go out on a high note! This wine was fully mature and yet not oxidized, while still having plenty of acid.

  • Pop and pour, the color is light golden yellow, there was initially an enticing and complex nose. Regrettably, from the beginning, the wine has oxidized qualities on the palate, along with some really compelling flavors. I have to leave this unscored due to the oxidation, not sure if it drops down to the flawed level. Even with the oxidation, I could maybe go 89 on the enjoyment of the nose and palate.

NOSE: very ripe; lemony underbrush; light oak; some butterscotch; expressive; doesn't smell oxidized.

BODY: very rich orange-golden yellow color (lighter color than the '05 has been displaying for years); medium-full bodied.

TASTE: rich; lemon & pineapple; medium-light oak; not premoxed in any way, shape, or form; alc. is not noticeable (13.6%); light butterscotch. Day 2: acidity seems a bit stronger today; still not oxidized; actually a bit better (read: more to my liking) on Day 2 than on Day 1. Same score for both days, however.

  • Mr. French opened this magnum. Oh no, look at the color. It has to be oxidated. I'll taste it anyways... Hello giant foundation on acid and yellow fruit, delicious. This will age even longer, but might start turning brown. Who cares when it taste like this.

  • Hoping this was an off bottle because it was completely underwhelming compared to the 06 I had a few months ago.

For once, an Arcadian cork that didn’t break! Deep yellow in color with nice aromas of stone fruit and minerality, but taste wise, it’s really lacking freshness and acidity to make this wine exciting. All in all, just a tired and disappointing bottle.
