Consistent with previous notes over the past few years - ridiculously floral nose, concentrated palate, and elegant finish. Deep red and black fruit throughout with cloves, anise, cinnamon, tobacco, and cherry oak. Drink now over the next few years.

Improved from almost 18-months ago. More raspberry-menthol, anise, and red roses emerging on the floral, herbal nose. Palate is still hard and leads into a biting finish, but this is an incredible food wine if paired with the right dishes. It worked for us with sausage pasta marinara. Drink now - 2025.

Second try last night with L and similar to prior experience: overripe and oxidized with some funky, meaty flavors lurking beneath. Didn't finish the glass. Swing and a miss.

Bery good and quite interesting. Dark and youthful in appearance. Upon opening, youthful nose of black cherry, anise and sweet herbs. After a couple hours the nose took on the addition of red meat and age. The palette was that of an older wine. Balance of fruit, earth and herbs described on the nose, but with an additions of coffee and chocolate that lingers through the mid and through the fairly long finish. Great food wine - we had it with beef involtini, sun choke and artichoke. 8-18-8-8

Decanted 1 hour before dinner and it needed about 45-min for the musty funk and smoke to blow off. Cloudy, murky, dark, brooding crimson. Nose brings musty, wet grass, wet mud, tar, flowers, mushrooms, leather, dark cherries, and hints of herbs and raspberries. The palate is medium-to-full, with a rustic frame and very good acidity, bringing tart cherries, blackberries, hints of blueberries, and truffles. The finish is smooth with the tannins nicely integrated. The most striking attribute to this wine is the deep savory streak of soy sauce and rich herbs that starts in the nose and flows all the way through the finish. Very unique and perfect with all kinds of savory, rich foods. We paired with rich, Halibut Cioppino stew.
