Drunk with minestrone soup and cheeses. Deep garnet with garnet rim - no bricking. Nose of red cherries, blackcurrants and strawberries with the Gamay bubblegum overlay. There is an earthiness to it as well which adds interest and distinguishes it from a young Beaujolais. Tannins are present but are softening out (and were taken away by the cheese). There was a slightly bitter, ferrous edge at first which disappeared and it became more harmonious in the glass over time. However, it did not evolve greater complexity in the glass nor was it particularly long. It is clearly well made and staying the course - it was very pleasant to drink.

The previous review was far sighted: it’s ready to go now. Could easily be mistaken in a blind tasting for an Amarone on account of its gorgeously boozy cherry/kirsch nose and deep red colour. Big fat tears and limpid like a Volnay in the glass. Bought direct on a visit to James Wilding’s estate in Morgon in May 2016 and ABV% scribbled out with pen on the bottle and corrected to 13.9%. It isn’t hot on the palate though. Svelte tannin (what little there is of it) and lots of red fruits. Tasted after a 2017 Saint Amour ‘Les Capitans’ by Dom. Clos du Fief with Sunday lunch. Drink up.

Drunk over a number of nights and curiously little development. Dark, full and at the moment rather enigmatic. This, I think needs a fair amount more time.

Not overly impressed. Seems like a lot of dusty tannin, and not a whole lot of fresh fruit. Fruit is somewhat stewed. Definitely unBeaujolais like. Not sure it's like a Pinot either.

Popped and poured - opening up pretty well with about half an hour in the glass. Dark in the glass, and has dark aromas of coffee, blueberry-ish fruit, and earth. A touch of alcohol too. The coffee is pretty noticeable, but works well. Coffee, blueberries, plums, and gravelly earth on the palate, with good acidity and medium strength powdery tannins. Some sappiness lingers for quite a while in the finish, slightly bitter. Still a bit young maybe, but good enjoyable wine.
