This 100% Corvina is mid-garnet to mahogany red. Classic savoury notes on the nose with baked cherries, marinated cherry, plum, prunes, balsamic notes, Chinese Five Spice, leather, and wet tobacco. Richly textured, there is a soft, sweet entry (a hint of RS?) to this mid-bodied, rather generous 14.5% alcohol. A gentle unfolding complex fruited wine with a lively acidity that keeps the wine from falling down, the flavours run to 50% dark chocolate, fruit cake pieces (raisin, preserved figs) and more prune juice as the wine opens - there is also an edge of char and vanilla custard. A slightly developed note suggests the wine is past its prime but still present. Relatively long finish, the wine closes with marinated fruits, a gentle leather extension and sweet, gently chewy fruit-orientated tannins.

Definitely past it’s peak but suspect that bottle condition and storage has played a big factor. Still some fruit and a little acidity, and did get finished but not very enjoyable anymore
