  Yellow flowers, orange peels , a bit lemony with succulence. Some sweet white peaches but lemon backed. Not bad still fresh.

  Ming's 30th - a night of 1981 wines and more (Asia Grand, Odeon Towers): En Magnum. This had a beautiful nose, showing quite a bit younger than its 30 years, with lovely white flower scents floating amongst creamy aromas, some red apples and little touches of cherry pith - really pretty. I did not think the palate was quite as nice as the nose though. It did have an elegant mousse with a nice creamy feel buttressed by lots lots of bright acidity. But the fruit lacked some authority, so that the wine was a bit tart when drank by itself, showing in lean, sinewy lemon notes. Thankfully it was better with food, softening quite a bit. The finish was great though - dry, yeasty, with a serious streak of stoney mineral racing through the back-palate. All in all, a very nice Champagne, but clearly not from the strongest vintage, but still with plenty of quality. Interestingly, there was a little debate on whether this would have been better a decade ago, or whether it actually needed more time in the bottle. What I do know for sure is that it certainly showed a lot younger than a Champgagne of its age.

  Degad April 2010. Korken var dock misstänkt rak. Frisk lukt med tydlig brödighet (brioche), sherrytoner, honung, lite kryddighet (kanel?). Vinet är extremt friskt, gyllengult med en bra balans. Fin, lite krämig mousse som balanseras av en bra syra. Naturligt sötma i vinet och det känns som att dosagen inte är allt för hög.Finns lfrukt kvar i form av mycket mogna röda äpplen men sherry, kaffe och kola dominerar. Det här är ett sådant vin som man kan sitta länge och lukta på och i detta fall följer smaken upp. Vinet håller länge i glaset. För konsumption nu.
