5/12/2024 - jonahfactor Likes this wine: NRConsiderable bricking in the glass, but still holds up well on the palate. Heavy graphite with some cassis and plum. The cork was in amazing condition. It’s more interesting than tasty at this point. But still a well put together offering at almost three decades old. Drink now to 2027. |

4/22/2024 - O'Meara Likes this wine: NRThis was a real treat. Sonoma fruit at its best. The bouquet was a ringer for a 2nd or 3rd classe Margaux. Deep plush flavors and texture were classic California. |

2/8/2024 - Robwild Likes this wine: 91 pointsA friend brought this as a dinner gift and was put to the side for a later time not knowing what to expect. Opened it on a weekday evening to have with a simple steak. Surprisingly enjoyable, with firm tannins, and bit of complexity with vanilla, cassis oak and red fruits. An approachable Cab, which opened up during the meal. |

A pristine example of this wine with a perfect cork. Aromas of leather, black currant, bell pepper and tobacco. Full-bodied and nearly fully-integrated, showing just the softest bit of tannin. Black currant, plum, cigar tobacco and herb flavors. Develops aromas of iron and asphalt as it unfurls in the glass. Balanced, with terrific fruit and long finish. Seamless. Domino and two others guessed Bordeaux, only Doc suggested California. A terrific showing for this wine. Pristine bottles such as this easily have another five years or more, however I will likely stand up our last bottle within the next month or two and plan to enjoy it in 2025. 94+ for me, 95 for Domino, and WOTN for a couple of us. |

3/16/2024 - jlhkiss Likes this wine: 92 pointsOpened and decanted 1.5 hours ahead of smokehouse-rubbed grilled pork loin, roasted potatoes, and seared asparagus. Dark, murky, purple color with a more expressive nose than our last tasting. Good dark fruit emerging on the palate with a strong spine of acidity and minerality. Even after 10+ years this will improve, so drink 2025-2032. Technical score: 92. Enjoyment score:92. |

3/9/2024 - jonahfactor Likes this wine: NR(Wineapalooza with Friends.) Spectacular, and red wine of the night for the group. Clear ruby color, no bricking, vibrant nose and in perfect shape, although she probably won’t stay in her prime much longer. Graphite, cedar, bay leaf and quiet plum throughout. Done in a Bordeaux style. Delicious. Drink by 2026. Outstanding. |

2/10/2024 - Maarten1989 Likes this wine: 89 pointsDeep red color in the glass. In the nose you’ll find dark red and some blue fruit. Mixed with little hints of tobacco. The taste is a little restraint but still fruity and surprisingly mild. The aftertaste is medium long and pleasant. This is, for me, a nice example of the delicacy and complexity that Californian wines can bring after 10 years. For me this is in its perfect drinking window. |

1/20/2024 - jlhkiss Likes this wine: 91 pointsOpened and let air an hour ahead of Italian dressing-marinated pork cutlets with roasted potatoes and Brussel sprouts (after a long day of snow skiing). Did not need to decant. Very well-balanced and structured, though linear and one-dimensional on the palate. Black, blue, and high-toned red fruit flowed into the moderately tannic finish. Good acidity. Oak integrating nicely but still more pronounced than most wines we drink. Will be best 2024-2028. Technical score: 90. Enjoyment score: 92. |

12/19/2023 - Jay Win Likes this wine: NRStill tannic but plenty of fruit emerges after an hour or so in the decanter. This is my last bottle which was properly stored. I'm not sure the fruit will maintain its presence. |

1/29/2016 - Mossrose wrote: 95 pointsA strong candidate for the greatest vintage of the top wine made by Laurel Glen, as well as one the best 10 Cabernet Sauvignons from California in the 2004 vintage. Inky black from center all the way to the edge. Not just balanced, but balanced at a high level of density, concentration, and power in every dimension of the wine, including color, fruit, acid, and tannin. Resolutely centered on black currant and blackberry fruit that is structured by muscular tannin and acidity. This Laurel Glen strongly resembles Chateau Montrose in Bordeaux, who resolutely refuses to soften, round, and make more forward the young wine, because that would sacrifice the very qualities that make the wine greater with long aging in bottle. |

6/18/2016 - Mossrose wrote: 94 pointsA superb example of how high altitude vineyards on mountains in California make the greatest Cabernet Sauvignons. Opaque black as a moonless night, with dominant aromas of black currant and blackberry. Enters the mouth with a top layer of refreshing acidity and firm and drying tannin, and a strong undertow of black fruits that adds black cherry and plum. Repeatedly swishing the wine around the mouth in no way softens or diminishes the powerful flavors. Still, the wine has evolved into its middle age where that power starts to give way to a texture that is more delicious and caressing and less mouth striping. Overall, an outstanding wine with great power and complexity, heading toward its peak of enjoyment in the next five more years. |

7/13/2017 - Mossrose wrote: 94 pointsThe best wine at a tasting that included diverse Cabernet Sauvignons. The factors that made this wine distinctively better included being well structured by both acidity and tannin, greater concentration, a smooth texture, and delicious fruits of black currant, blackberry, and black cherry. Available for under $30, this wine was also the best buy. Finally, this was the only Cabernet served made exclusively from high altitude vineyards, here all from Sonoma Mountain, combining Estate grown grapes with purchased. |

12/9/2023 - jlhkiss Likes this wine: 93 pointsConsistent with previous note two years ago, only this has improved and really blossomed into a complex, balanced wine with bright red cherries and dark/blue fruit. Tobacco, leather, and musty wood are settling into the finish as it ages past a decade. We did not drink this with food and it was lovely as a late-evening cocktail (though I would still prefer this food). Likely in or near a peak phase so drink up over the next few years: 2024-2028. Technical score: 93. Enjoyment score: 93. |

10/8/2023 - jviz wrote: 92 pointsLovely wine that has held up for 40 years. The cork was perfect. The wine was somewhat volatile, with shoe polish, old leather bag, but still enough fruit for it to be well enjoyed. Raspberry and a hint of pine. Dark color but transparent and it remained stable over an hour or so. |
