Opened and let air an hour ahead of Italian dressing-marinated pork cutlets with roasted potatoes and Brussel sprouts (after a long day of snow skiing). Did not need to decant. Very well-balanced and structured, though linear and one-dimensional on the palate. Black, blue, and high-toned red fruit flowed into the moderately tannic finish. Good acidity. Oak integrating nicely but still more pronounced than most wines we drink. Will be best 2024-2028. Technical score: 90. Enjoyment score: 92.

Day 1: PnP. Somewhat harsh oak flavor that dominates the initial palette. Black fruits on the finish. Last sip of the night hinted this will be better with more air. On the nose, oak dominates here too. Day 2: Wow - Significant improvement. Harsh oak flavor mellowed out. Great balance with juicy acidity that keeps things fresh. Honestly tastes exactly like eating a blackberry. Fine grained tannins, easy drinking, and a great value for the price. On the nose, day 2 was more subdued, but there was a touch of alcohol heat with dusty black fruit aromas. Day 3: Still going strong, similar to day 2. If I had to pick, day 2 was probably the peak.

nose heavy oak, vanilla, light alcohol. Palate high toasted oak, very balanced, medium alcohol, deep black fruit. Medium-full body.
