Color: Light to medium yellow. Nose: Bitter almonds. Fresh sea breeze. Mouth: A slight nutty flavor. Salty. Citrus. Fresh. Excellent expressiveness and length. There is an umami flavor like mushrooms. Very rich for a fino.

NOSE: epoxy; lightly nutty - praline pecans; medium+ expressiveness.

BODY: light bodied; pale amber color.

TASTE: high acid; 15% alc.; slightly oxidative; light varnish; tastes like the flor died-away just a bit --- this is not a salinic or fresh-tasting as is a typical Fino. Not as much depth or richness as Amontillado/Oloroso/Palo Cortado, and not as bright/fresh as a Fino, and despite its high acidity, I can't escape wishing there was a bit more -- it's just a bit flat for my preferences -- it's still good, no doubt, but not a re-buy for me at the $40 I paid. As far as idiosyncratic Fino goes, the bottlings from Equipo Navazos tend to be better.

Dark pu-er in colour. Has a penicillin nose upon presentation. On the palate, the wine presents lush, ripen fruits, with a rounded and smooth finish. There are 3 distinctive characteristics about this wine: it has a dense body, with a burst of sweetness and ends with a saltiness.

Rust brown in colour. Captivating aroma with dried preserved cured meat notes. A salt attack followed by hints of sweetness and acidity. Rich and full body with macadamia-like nutty fragrance.

Deep gold in colour with a whiff of light tea on the nose. Delivers pleasure and a punch on the nose. Hints of hazelnut, menthol leaf.

An astute wine.

Straw gold in colour with fleeting aromas. Dry with a sharp finish. Dried almonds were evident with a slightly salty, flinty midpalate. Ample acidity to match the alcohol.

This wine should match very well with seafood with a rich creamy sauce.

An eye opening and riveting wine.

Aunque no pone nada en la etiqueta se supone que forma parte de la gama "Antique" de la bodega. Edad media 9 años. Pajizo con destellos dorados. Nariz intensa, bastante características, notas punzantes, frutos secos, aceitunas verdes, manzana madura, sutil salinidad. En boca tiene buen ataque, seco, algo afilado, con acidez media, notas de frutos secos y apuntes salinos, suaves amargos, bastante carácter y persistencia media +.

Color: Deep brown. Nose: Roasted nuts. A hint of fruit. Mouth: Dry. Again, roasted nuts. Coconut. A hint of coffee. Some fruit like citrus is lurking in the background. There is a salinity and a freshness like from a chlorinated swimming pool in the sun.

Wow! Great acidity, intense flor, dry fig, rice cracker, almond, such a long, persistent, ever-changing finish with nutty, dry fruit, saline notes coming waves by waves. Love it!

Found a bottle that was opened at least 6 months ago and was half full with no argon. Surprised how delicious it still was, with layers of roasted nuts, fig, chestnut honey with a surprising level of crisp acids to balance out the sweetness. Amazing QPR if you like these rich sherries.

Francamente se trata de un vino rarísimo puesto que no había probado nunca un vino de jerez de añada y fuera del sistema de criaderas y soleres.
Presenta un precioso color entre cobre claro con tendencia anaranjada. Aroma intensísimo, frutos secos, miel, nueces, naranja, hierbas etcétera. La boca de entrada es alcohólica, lo que de entrada me recuerda a una mañana como algo por el estilo. Sin embargo ya en boca del arco desaparece y se equilibra completamente. Difícil de describir eso. Final larguísimo

"Running" Club Oregon vs the World - Chardonnay & Pinot Noir (Al fresco in leafy West London): Lovely, light, nutty - some persistence but not *too* much. Was pleasantly received by the mostly not-wine-nerd crowd. Good start to things.

The PX solera 1918 or PX Muy Viejo is the oldest solera at Ximénez-Spínola. It consists of 195 barrels laid down in 1918, from which less than 10.000 bottles are extracted each year. The average age of the bottled wine is around 15 years. Deep brown color. Intense aromas of sultanas, dates, figs, prunes, dried pears, molasses, spices, vanilla. Viscous, with high acidity, intense taste of figs, dried pears, honey, raisins. Very, very long.

when first opening, I really didn't like this wine. disjointed, alcohol wasn't integrated, etc etc. 24 hours later, and wow is it a stunner. almonds, vanilla, marigold, custard, pastry, apricots, olives, green almonds. Just wow! truly was an 84 or so at opening, and a 93+ a day later. the change is remarkable.

Very dry, quite developed and oxidative but clearly fino with age and takes it to a diferrent space compared to a young 'en saca'. Yes, salty, tangy, briney but also toasty, soft mouthfeel, olive notes, walnuts and something indefinable. Incredibly long finish. Can see this would be an acquired taste to many but to the sherry tragics this is just heaven. Deserves a high score.

"Pairs with Sadness" (Chicago, IL): From half-bottle. One of the better ENs I've had in a while, even if it almost doesn't feel stylistically correct in that there's almost too much sweetness on the palate here. More of a toffee-styled Amontillado with some definite rancio notes as well. Very compelling stuff, but given the concentration, a little certainly goes a very long way.

First experience with Sherry (solera) and I was not disappointed at all. So much depth of flavor. Brown color kinda like a clear molasses. The nose is dried raisins, dark honey and really jumps out of the glass. On the palate, dried figs, raisins, maple syrup, buckwheat honey and a long finish with roasted nuts that just keeps coming back, like a heartbeat of flavor on the tongue. For the price that this is sold this is incredible. Really helps with that sweet craving.

A private dinner (Restaurant Zoldering *, Amsterdam, NL): Magnum. Bottled 22 March 2022. Pale golden colour, cloudy. Marvellous marriage of intensity, finesse and elegance; flowers and yeast and brine, green olive, steely and silky; aniseed on the finish, very good length.
