The wine showed extremely well in a tasting a few months ago and I was unable to resist the temptation of opening one of my bottles. Screw cap. 13% ABV. Medium ruby colour. Good red and dark fruit, cherry, forest notes, espresso, and intense spice, with medium-level acidity, well-integrated tannin, and very good length. Medium-bodied, with a creamy texture, and well-integrated oak. Riedel Sommelier Burgundy and Riedel Winewings Burgundy glasses worked well, better than the Zalto Denk‘Art Burgundy glasses which emphasized the tannin. The wine kept improving as time passed, developed an intriguing combination of sweet, spicy and savory notes, and became balanced and harmonious after about two hours of aeration. Drink or hold.

Crazy weight and richness on this. Layered and dense, amazing acidity. Instantly commanded my attention.

Grape Nerds, pencil shavings, canned prunes. Complex, charmingly austere, if flabby.

A birthday bottle of wine from Gus . He bought it based on the label and he clearly has an eye for such things at 5 years old. I really enjoyed this wine with fillet steak/balsamic/truffle salt/Parmesan and a rocket and tomato salad. Best after the bottle had been open for a an hour or two, but was perfectly p n p - able. Didn’t decant.
Initially candied on the nose and quite explosively so. A little violet and rose with a touch of piedmont ‘tar’. Light building to medium bodied across the pallet with some satisfying creaminess with the meat. Perfectly fine on its own but maybe a touch tart. Better with the food. 2016 obviously nails it. I have had this from lesser vintages in bars/restaurants and it’s not nearly as good hence I wasn’t expecting so much from this. Great choice Gus thank you.

Crisp and bright red fruits and berries, root vegetables, olive medley, herbs, peppercorns, spice, and weathered clay. Delightful expression of place! Serious acid, gritty tannins. Deft balance at all phases. Long, supple finish. I drink wine for experiences like this.

I really enjoyed this at the sir Charles Napier with roast beef. Best after an hour of air in the bottle but on day 2 a little more mellow and even more like a velvet hug on the finish. Sufficiently interesting and enough length. Paid £120 in the restaurant and I would imagine it was a £45/50 wine. Would buy the producer to try again.

Excellent wine at the village level. Okay the 2021’s may have had some issues such as frost and some may lack concentration but this was very pleasant and a great accompaniment to wifey’s very wonderful prawn and monkfish risotto. Good balance and decent length.

A pattern seems to be emerging with this Champagne. Once bought, we now mature it in bottle for a year or more. The result is a little bit of weight and autolytic development that really improves what can be something of a lightweight citrus dominated wine..

Emirates 1st- average year, great wine. Elegant, concentrated, seamless, perfectly balanced but still with an incredibly long finish. What good burgundy is all about. Right in its drinking window. Absolutely delicious….

Drank at grahams lodge. Decanter needed for lots of sediment. Still tastes youthful but with some nice development. Lots of fruit with structure & plenty of spice on the finish.

Terrifically complex, moving away from a standard jammy Pinot Noir, to a dark fruit/berry & spice mélange. Could even taste hints of cinnamon.

Excellent value for its price point.

This is one heck of an impressive Rosé. Looks more like a red than a Rosé, but has all the acid and freshness one could want. Beautiful fresh, wild berries. Bravo! I love it! 5-12-16-9: 92/100.

Drinking well, but not quite as well as a previous bottle. Maybe needed more air? Hints of Asian spices, cherries, raspberries - but not too expressive, neither on nose nor on palate. Good acidity. Good balance. Fairly elegant. Drank better than a 2014 Ballot Millot Volnay Santenots (too much VA, which did not dissipate over 90 mins).

A vibrant deep purple color with a sweet-scented nose. On the palate, bold yet elegantly ripened dark berry and black cherry fruit, dark currants and smooth tannins. Very young and should benefit nicely with more time in the bottle but drinking well right now. 93 points at this stage in my opinion.

Pausing for the Cause Fundraiser and Dinner (Obelix - Chicago IL): Another great bottle of this wine. Big and plush, miraculously coming across as ripe in this non-ripe vintage. So much nuance and depth that keeps unfolding in front of the lucky drinker, this is wonderful now and will last for a long time.

Popped n poured ten min after opening an sitting in my glass. Good balance but the tannins take over just a bit more than everything else. Easy drinker with or without food. I have several bottle so I’ve been experimenting recently to see the best showing of the wine It’s drinking great right out the gate. Drink up an enjoy if you please. No need to wait unless u like to. It still can go longer an still has great structure.

First of 3 bottles; I usually wait longer on my Napa cabs but this was advertised as ready by my internet service and wanted a fresh bold Cab. Haven’t had VHR so not spoiled, and found this more or less as expected; liked it and a good wine but have loved others more in this price range. Seems like it could show a bit more with another year or two but is not a tight wine today.

Dewy roses and powerful light cherry on the nose. Sour cherry and strong acid and a fair bit of tannin in the mouth. A short-medium length finish with a touch of tar. If Super good in a light style.

Pausing for the Cause Fundraiser and Dinner (Obelix - Chicago IL): Bright apple throughout, much too young, but clearly with good 1er Cru density and weight, just perhaps with too much of a tart note on finish.

Dark ruby red with purple rim. Unripe redcurrant, blueberry, blackberry, rhubarb, maltese chocolate, plethora of flowers like a summer garden, pu'er tea, graphite and cedar. Medium-full bodied, medium-high acidity, medium-high silky tannin, medium to medium-high structure and very long, rounded finish. Complex, concentrated and bold. Fragrant nose and velvety palate that was almost soapy. Not a typical Chambolle-Musigny due to high extraction. A fabulous village bottle that would outperform most premier cru bottles.

Enjoyable now for the fresh style and would develop well over the next 10 years.

Pausing for the Cause Fundraiser and Dinner (Obelix - Chicago IL): In contrast to the 2003 getting tired, this isn't even close to ready and not yet fully enjoyable. Rich and dense, but clearly reserved and coiled with taut structure. Nicely floral start with good richness certainly bode well, and I expect 93+ point potential, 2028 forward.

Way more developed than it should be (and more than the 2012 had recently).maybe because it lacks a little acid? Drink up.
