This was alright. Needed some time to open up, but after an hour or so this was doing well.
Translucent red, and on the nose a loting cherries, some oak, spice and some more cherries.
On the palate good acidity, and more of the same. I enjoyed it, but I’m starting to think that pinot noir just isn’t for me. I found this light and too many sour cherries.
It did pair well with chicken thighs in a creamy mushroom and pancetta sauce with petit pois, and a piece of Gruyère cheese.

Cuvee Affrountaire 2019 from Domaine Cros de Romet run by Alain Boisson from Cairanne - Cru des Cotes du Rhone. This Cuvee ages two years in barrel. Mainly grenache which are over 60 years old. Deep red color, the nose got crushed herbes, some rosemary and a nice calm hint of pepper. The mouth is a mixture of red and black fruits, garrigue and pepper which is more intense. Some well integrated melting taninns atz the palate made it perfect . I remember the last two visits of the Domaine with Edwin Jongsma and it was (and will be) a great pleasure !

Cheers !

Just at the edge of being plump with red fruit and some dark fruit, too. Some spice, not peppery. Some salinity. Quite nice.

Rich, waxy, and loaded with tropical fruit flavors, offset by floral accents. I didn't detect any oak on this wine, so the fruit really shines. Yes, the acidity is on the lowish side but there's still enough there in my view to keep the wine from being flabby. Those who prefer more acid-driven wines might not agree with me on that, but I enjoy richer, textured whites so this wine falls right into my zone.

Floral, forest, and notes of tea & violet on the nose. Wide and expansive, dark earth and not brooding but contemplative, this wine was really singing on the palate. Quite a long finish with a bit of mint or menthol lift, and closing with florals again. Darker toned, beautiful, and with great balance.

I can see an argument for holding, but this has some freshness I value. Best three hours after opening.

Slow oxed for an hour then enjoyed a glass over 45 minutes. Typical Terra de Lavoro flavors of dark fruits, plums and tobacco with an undercurrent of the volcanic terroir's dry, rustic character. While great, this didn't quite rise to the level of expectations given the reviews for this vintage. My guess is that it needed more air time and would have benefited from better glassware and a more elevated environment.

Another beautiful bottle of this similar to my last one, but it‘s starting to show slightly more tertiary notes of sous-bois, dried leaves, some earthy notes, etc. This is in a great place right now, where there is plenty of fruit and structure left, but also plenty of tertiary notes coming in. Really nice.

Delicious! Our friends opened this for dinner and served with grilled steak. The nose was amazing - forest floor, herbs, cedar. Just from the nose we could tell it was a cut above the 2001 Clerc Milon that was served first. Medium-full bodied on the palate, there’s red and black fruit here, it’s nicely balanced and paired well with the grilled steak. A memorable wine for sure, and I might have rated this even higher, but I agree with other comments that it did fade a bit in the glass. My friend decanted it, though I don’t know for how how long. It’s drinking really well, but I got the impression that if you own it, you don’t want to wait much longer to open it.

Light but interesting, with herbaceous (almost spicy) notes. Maquis to me- but I may have been projecting. Went well with honey made sausage and pepper pizza. PNP and was good out of the gates.

5/2024. Nose is aromatic citrus similar to a SB. However, the palette is not very fruity. Acidity med to high. Interesting but grape varietal not as interesting as SB to me.

Surprised on the upside based on other reviews and the age of this village level wine. Was smooth and very pleasant with cherry and red fruit character dominating. Not complex but nice with food and definitely still in it's drinking window.

My aperitif before moving on to the more serious stuff and to aid my cooking. Color is pale straw. On the nose: Light citrus, apple/pear, honeysuckle and some other floral notes. On the palate: Pear, apple, honeysuckle, grapefruit and some cut grass. Simple but solid. It’s hot and I just ran 9 miles so it’s tasting very good to me. Will try again tomorrow.

ordered this at Teatro Ristorante in Calgary (which has the city's best cellar, btw), garnet in the glass with a medium/full body and smooth tannins; black currant, red fruit, spice, tobacco & leather with a pleasant herbal undertone. Fresh & inviting, it got better as the evening wore on and everyone at the table agreed this was the best wine of the night beating out the '15 Clos de l'Oratoire (92+) by a nose. The somm opened/decanted at the table for ~20 minutes before serving and it was ready to go. This wine can definitely go another 6-8 years if properly stored, but I don't think it will improve meaningfully in taste/score.

Would I buy again: yes -- classic Pauillac that delivers the goods at a respectable price point; can compete with wines at 2x the price

93+ -- excellent value Pauillac

Pale lemon with gold highlights, some spritz and low viscosity (12% ABV). The nose of this Hondarabbi Zuri has medium (+) intensity aromas of lemon, lanolin, seaweed, saline, white grapefruit, lemon pith, brioche and peach. The palate is off-dry with an ever-so-soft hint of effervescence to go along with a light body and high acidity. Citrus, sea breeze, minerality and a touch of peach round out the very refreshing flavors that linger on a medium finish, making me want to sip more. The Brioche I smelled is very feint on the palate and is a result of some Sur-lie aging. It's a delicious summer sipper and at a relatively low 12 % alcohol, it's easy going. I was planning to pair with Alfredo, good thing there's shrimp going in as well plus the Caeser salad. Anything heavier would not work, this wine needs lighter fare and perhaps something from the sea. 90 points from me for this $19 effort makes it a 5 star stunner to buy in bulk- summer is here.

Initially a little heavy, nose of rich black fruit, caramel and toffee with mocha notes and strong blackcurrent to taste coupled with a Californian lightness, richness and alcohol. Rather moorish once breached…

Lucien Le Moine Vosne-Romanee Les Suchots 2013.

This wine is labeled " Rancio seco" and this defines the wine quite well.
I suppose, as indicated, that the solera was started in 1865.
sold with a " T top" which breaks too readily.
Pale amber hue, appears unfiltered.
Very aged character but also very intense.
The aromatic intensity is very impressive and forces you to think about possible food pairings.
The Rancio" character dominates the aromas. The palate combines a pleasant soft texture, high alcohol and an almost painfully intense yeasty character. Perhaps a pairing with a strong aged cheese would be in order.
The finish is very very long, entirely on the Rancio side.
Not likely to evolve rapidly.

Very smooth and full on the tongue. Was expecting a Caymus experience, but nowhere near as jammy. Definitely was even more impressive on the second night so I would decant for maybe an hour or two before drinking. Really enjoyed it.

This is gorgeous. Both rich and textured and bright and elegant. Notes of honeysuckle, candied ginger and stony minerals. This is one to follow over the next five years to see how it develops even further. I'm guessing that I'll add another point after it gains further in weight and complexity.

velvet mouthfeel.... plush velour track suit. Lots of fruit, but not overly complex. Meets expectations and then a bit more. This is not a criticism, but rather an endorsement. It delivers. Seems to be in a very good spot right now but likely fine for 3-5 more years IMHO.

Shy at first. Mainly just lemon pith, lees + fierce acidity. May have been a bit too cold at first so we let it sit. After ~30min gained a ton of complexity. Marzipan, Caramel, Coffee, Brioche. RS noticeable on palate. As good as BdB gets :)

moderate + depth of color, very fine mousse. aromatically shows citrus and riper fruits, distinct minerality, no malo or oak agin i can find. on the palate very firm acids that are quite fine, a round yet firm champagne midpalate for a bdb champagne, low alcohol, minimal phenolics, low dosage. balanced wine with very good length, great intensity, ok complexity. wine has finesse, a fine texture, excellent expression of place. a ripe vintage of this wine that still maintains its cut and typicity. drink or hold a few years
Orange
Aromas of smashed strawberries, citrus, a little roses, mushrooms and brown spice.... crisp, juicy, tangy, citrus and flowers are so nice, almost full, a tiny bit of tannin... impressive finish, it really expands and broadens, citrus and tart berries, a licoricey floral tone is beguiling.... this is mature, but far from tired, and will be worth following at least a few more years

I opened the bottle in the poorer condition with a mid-shoulder level.
The hue is quite impressive for a 58 year old Margaux.
Interesting nose if not particularly generoua: some remnant fruit, pencil shaving, restrained in character. Still noticeable tannins but of a good quality giving the wine a nice texture. The result is that the palate appears brighter and fresher than the nose.
The finish is quite long, but this stays on the restrained side.
