It’s definitely a skin-contact wine in the mouth—tannins. Honey scented. Beautiful amber color in the glass. Interesting, pleasant, and technically fine, but I’d rather drink a pouilly-fusee, a Sancerre, etc.

So some extra time in the bottle did it some good.
Bright, golden hues.
Lemon zest off the nose. Fresh. Some salinity.
Racing acidity. Tastes like the nose. Medium plus finish. This wine is delicious sipped alone or with food. Case worthy.

Casa Turrent cigar next.

Holding well, still fresh and a solid structure and balance. Good amount of fruit. Green Apples, white peach, solid body and buttery.

Too sweet. Overripe cherry and cough-syrupy flavour. Bad aftertaste. Couldn’t finish it. Doesn’t compete with cheap wines a fraction of its price.

Medium garnet with bricking edges. Smelled earthy-tarry with orange peel, mint, and red fruit; the taste leans more on the fruit with some herbs. Medium-plus body, high acidity, medium-plus tannin but almost balanced by the intensity of flavor. The medium-plus finish goes from red fruit to mentholated medicine, with some alcoholic heat throughout.

Similar notes to 2 years ago, but not as expressive / intense as last time. Stewed prune and some cedar on the nose. Palate is a bit drying, dusty, with hints of garrigue. Long (-)finish. Served with grilled, butterflied leg of lamb.

Long and lean with a floral, green apple and lemon front, a steely & mineral core, then a lengthy finish on acidity. Really good with shellfish. Not much give on day two; Freshness and bracing acidity. Really good for the price.

A little tight just out of the bottle, but opened with some air to lush black cherry, a little raspberry, cured tobacco and dried orange rind.

Decent wine in taste and overall taste and presentation. Very soft cork that crumbled when opening and bottles was lines with sediment. Probably better choices to be found at the purchase price point.

Digging deep in my dad’s cellar, I came upon this blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot. I brought it home, hoping that it would still be alive, and caught it just in time. Still a bit of fruit sweetness, but mostly tertiary, it showed cedar, leather, and an old book note to be a library wine in the best sense. Excellent balance (I looked in vain for the ABV on the front or back label), with just a hint of tannin on the finish, the few people who still have a bottle would be well served to open them soon.

Just had some again and it continues to be fantastic, vibrant, brilliant, rosé colors, crisp clean, not carbonated at all fruit aroma, but not fruity on the finish. clean with bits of melon on the finish

Very well balanced wine. Delicious fruits, like you’d expect from a Napa Cab. A little too much oak for my personal taste (otherwise, this would be 95 points) but my wife likes it just like it is. The Crane Family should be saluted for this fantastic wine!

Deep, dark garnet in color. Full, forward & fragrant nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries, blueberries & plums with overtones of floral notes of violets & earthy/dusty, tobacco, dried herbs, cocoa, spices, tar, minerals & cedar in the background. Medium-full bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe dark fruit flavors of cherries, blackberries & plums with spices, herbs, anise, cocoa, minerals & toasted oak/vanilla. Lingering finish. Drinks well at present with decanting & extended airing (90 min.+) but should develop further with additional aging.

This is kind of shocking but a bottle we found on our friends’ wine rack is actually drinkable. Lightly orange at the rim, vaguely stewed fruit on the nose, with notes of pencil lead and maybe like, terra cotta? On the palate the fruit is a little dried out, but there’s definitely still some raisin here along with perceptible oak, and way more length than I’d expect for an 11 year old bottle of Bogle.

Aromas of strawberry, watermelon, cherry and lime. Flavors of watermelon, strawberries, lime and touch of mineral. Ends with a 15-20 second finish berry notes. Always love Bandol Rose’s.

Smooth as ever. Aromas are jammy, blackberry, blueberry, with an ever so slight sweet hint of vanilla bean. Tastes of all the red fruit, cola, smooth on the palate, short finish. I decanted for at least an hour and it feels decent, but probably not worth the price tag.

A: Medium gold, clear.
N: Medium intensity. Apricot, peach, banana. Vanilla and coconut. Marzipan, honey or caramel. Developed, interesting nose.
P: Dry, medium acidity and alcohol. Medium+ body and flavour intensity. Some lemon now, peach, coconut, and almonds. Medium finish.
AQ: Good. I did not dare to guess anything blind.
8+/18 because it is in a really good place right now for drinking.
So yeah, drink now, unlikely to improve further.

Picked up on a recommendation by a merchant locally. Overpaid compared to national prices but...

White flowers, lemon curd, apricot, a little sense of beeswax. Medium weight, good length. Nice to try.

Unlike a prior bottle, this was delicious, balanced, ready to drink. Fifteen minutes after it was opened, the aromas began to bloom with a lovely combination of roses, mint, and sous bois. The mid-palate and finish were classic Volnay, with softened tannins and just enough acidity to go with our meal. It’s a mature wine, with some bricking and tertiary notes, and I doubt it can improve further. But another year in the cellar shouldn’t be a problem. I’m glad I have 2 more bottles.

I’ve been wanting to try the wines of Cantina Tomaso Gianolio for years but finding them on this side of the Atlantic has been a challenge. As of now, I don’t know much about where Davide and Igor Gianolio source their fruit but the family has been making these wines in a traditional manner for over 90 years so I’m sure the source is exceptional. So traditional, even the cork is short and stubby, lol!

Popped and poured; enjoyed over two days. Consistent throughout. The 2019 pours a light garnet color with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing and tar forward early but it quickly transforms into a veritable beauty with notes of raspberries, rose water, tar, star anise, talcum powder, and dry, stony earth. On the palate, the with is dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Elegant and lovely expression of the 2019 vintage. Drink now with patience and through 2044 (if the cork will keep that long).

Pale yellow color with a large white head. The nose feels somewhat stuffy and pretty straightforward with vague grainy notes of malt and a hint of caramel. The beer feels soft, somewhat understated and subtly sweet-toned on the palate with a straightforward taste of grainy malt and a tiny bit of honeyed sweetness. The carbonation feels soft and the hop bitterness comes across as very modest. The finish is light, watery and pretty soft with an underwhelming, medium-long aftertaste of grainy malt, some biscuity tones and a tiny bit of herby bitterness.

A very modest, soft and easy bulk lager. Definitely not a bock and there's nothing super about this. Really crushable due to its soft carbonation, subtle sweetness and almost complete lack of flavor. However, for a beer enthusiast, this offers nothing. Priced somewhat according to its quality at 0,59€ for a 0,33-liter beer.

Light nose of lemon and green apple. Nice mouthful where green apple comes through with a touch of butter and slight lemon in after taste. Refreshing, beautiful chardonnay which I prefer to overweight Californians.
