A lot of tannins but well balanced with a lot of fruit and long finish. One can only imagine how nice this will age and what a beauty it will become once the tannins intagrate. Nose is very en primeur style. Needs 5yrs+

Lean and mild, short wine. Mild to closed nose. Not an impressive showing and maybe one to drink early.

A great surprise and outshown most of the 2004>1982 flight bar the 1998.

1999 Vieux Château Certan

Nose makes you think this is a younger wine. Very vibrant alive and with lots of tannins. Similar to the 04. Maybe a touch too short on the finish but very pleasant and enjoyable. Nice surprise and drinks better than the 00 at themoment.

Beautifull round, fruit fwd nose. Very floral. Vey much alive and vibrant but tannins are in check and subtle. Rich, desne, pure and very complete. By far the best showing of the flight.

Mild fruit fwd nose, floral but not as expressive as the 98. Rich wine with nice length and tannins are well integrated.Drinks very nicely at the moment and would love to buy some.

Old socks on the nose... A bit vegetal and past its peak. Difficult to digest like a bad chambolle.

Well aged nose. Lots of earthy tone . Still very much alive and vibrant for a 25yr old. Rustic and shows its age. Delicious wine which drinks very well at the moment. Drink up as the signs of being past its peak are present.

Mild and elegant nose. On the palate it is shwing it age and feels a bit dissapointing for an 82. Very pleasant and enjoyable dont get us wrong, but 1982... a great chateau... this is not it.

Closing
We left the tasting feeling a bit dissapointed by VCC. A feeling shared by other tasters. Especially the 1980s wines felt old and unispiring. Best wine? 1998 frollowed by 2004 and 2001. Nice surprises? 01 and 99. Biggest dissapointment? 2000.
