Flight 1 (6 notes)

White - Sparkling
1947 Pol Roger Champagne Vintage Brut France, Champagne
Some mousse left at the beginning. White chocolate and a firm, liqueur like texture. Still great acidic backbone. Golden color. Very earthy. Nice.
White - Sparkling
1989 Krug Champagne Vintage Brut France, Champagne
From magnum. Surprisingly mature with white chocolate and orange fruit notes. Good balance and mousse. Rounded. Very nice.
White
2000 Château de la Maltroye Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Dent de Chien France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
Waxy citrus noes. Good tension. Clean. Nice wine.
White
2002 Louis Latour Montrachet France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Montrachet Grand Cru
Flashy yellow fruits and a weighty texture. Minerallity and tension. Stunning balance despite its power. Delicious
White
2006 Domaine Ramonet Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru
Characteristic Ramonet mint and mineral backbone. Very lush and surprisingly open. Tension with a firm acidic core. May not be an ager but very nice.
White
1997 M. Chapoutier Ermitage Blanc De L'Orée France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Hermitage
Oily, perfumed. Citrus and floral notes. Well balanced. Still youthful. Medium bodied. Enjoyable.

Flight 2 (5 notes)

Red
2007 Domaine Dujac Bonnes Mares France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Bonnes Mares Grand Cru
Primary. Red fruits with some darker accents. Good clarity. Lacking Dujac sap. Enjoyable but very young.
Red
2003 Domaine Dujac Echezeaux France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Echezeaux Grand Cru
Like a Sonoma Pinot in its ripeness and black, flashy fruits. Similar palate - streamlined but lacking grip. Not a great Dujac.
Red
2000 Domaine Dujac Clos St. Denis France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos St. Denis Grand Cru
Delicious red raspberry fruit and spice notes. Open, sappy, and full in texture. Resolving tannins. In a very nice place.
Red
1971 Domaine Robert Arnoux / Arnoux-Lachaux Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Suchots France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru
Mature, certainly; raspberry fighting a losing battle with more autumnal notes. Resolved structurally, and fading a bit in the middle, but enjoyable.
Red
1991 Domaine Leroy Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaux Monts France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru
Gorgeous dark strawberry fruits and spice. Balances power and grace, with structue framing the elements nicely. Great clarity. Excellent.

Flight 3 (8 notes)

Red
2000 Château Léoville Las Cases France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
Has always drank well, with a great combination of classic dark cherry and tobacco and fine grain tannins that give it a softer feel. Very nice.
Red
1959 Château Léoville Las Cases France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
Mature brambly dark fruits and earth elements. Cedar Good power despite its age. Cool fruits. Masculine styling. Great bottle.
Red
1986 Château Léoville Las Cases France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
Stern '86 frame, but with enough density to match. Masculine styling. Still very primary. Nice elements.
Red
2005 Château Latour Grand Vin France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
From magnum. Flashy dark fruits. Chocolate. Masculine styling. Firm, grainy tannins. Very dense.
Red
1978 Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
From magnum. Very green - herbal with tobacco and red fruit edges. Mature. Enjoyable.
Red
1989 Château La Mission Haut-Brion France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
Wow. Tons of power and material. Dark fruits, tobacco, but a great softness to the palate despite its youth. Medium grain, well balanced tannins. Delicious.
Red
1993 Château Mouton Rothschild France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
Dark fruits, tobacco. Masculine, medium bodied, and well balanced. Surprisingly nice. Doesn't need time but can last.
Red
1974 Chateau Montelena Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma County USA, California, Sonoma County
Still tons of red fruit and charm. Could pass for much younger. Well balanced, medium bodied wine. Lacking a bit in nuance, but what's there is very nice

Flight 4 (3 notes)

Red
1990 Paul Jaboulet Aîné Hermitage La Chapelle France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Hermitage
Another mediocre '90 la Chapelle. Hard, dark, with firm, aggressive tannins. Needs time but no signs of impending greatness. Yet to see anything in this.
Red
1999 Gaja Langhe Nebbiolo Sorì San Lorenzo Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Langhe DOC
Red cherry fruits. Characteristic Gaja headiness with very fine tannins. Floral and spicy. Young. Very nice.
Red
2001 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape Hommage à Jacques Perrin France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
From magnum. Dense leather, herb, and kirsch notes. Tons of power and density. Alcohol shows through on the finish, competing with fine tannins. Big, big wine, but not overdone or blowsy. Very nice.

Flight 5 (1 note)

White - Fortified
1908 D'Oliveiras Madeira Boal Reserva Portugal, Madeira
Powerful and weighty. Fig/caramel notes. Heady, with uplifting VA and alcohol. Characteristic D''Oliveras restraint despite impressive raw material. Very good.
