Blind. Did not know that this was supposed to be a bubbly, and the glass had been sitting for a while; no mousse. Some oak, still, actually. In good shape, structured, would guess at least 20 years younger.

Some brett, tertiary aromas, a bit unclean. Better in the mouth, smooth, moderate length, some drying tannin. So, so.

Some plum, spices and black currants - the latter verging on extract; Smooth but still with some structure, big bodied, moderate length, some tannin.

Herbal, vanilla extract, a bit synthetic; Moderate tannin, smooth and rounded

A bit short, something artificial about it, camphor, dark berries, some minerals.

Blind. Pineapple, bubble gum, rounded and moderate freshness. Guessed a simple Alsace Riesling

Blind. Very muted initially. Ok intensity, limited length, fresh, high acidity. First impression said Chardonnay, but very difficult to evaluate this; very young.

Fine nose with gun powder and mature black currants; fine length and freshness, balanced, but a bit tart finish reveals that it is ending its optimal drinking window.

Black currents, bonfire and wood, a hint of aniseed; shortish, drying tannin (wood treatment?), extracted. Not a success.

Blackberries and black currants; faint camphor; decent acidity, e bitter finish, a bit unclean.

Plums, bonfire, very good fruit, a lot of oak, powerful; pencil shaves, somewhat structured, but tiresome oak.

Black currants, good deoth to the fruit, verging on complexity; good balance although a very powerful wine. I liked this more than others.

Some bell pepper, herbal; structured, good freshness.

Served a bit cold. Black currents and camphor; tightly packed wine, promising.

Fresh wine, some smoke; balanced and fresh in the mouth.

Quite developed, mushroom/bullion; decent lenth, a bit weak finish, thinning at the end. Yet a pleasant wine, most mature, drying finish. Still, did hold up well in the glass.

Sweet-and-sour; very CA nose with meat and smoke; balanced in the mouth, juicy, and some elegance to it. But, it is certainly too sweet, did match the beef well.

Deep fruit, yet very structured, almost refined. Promising. Very different from the Volcanic Hill 2006.

A bit anonymous and faded smell at first, opens up after a while with more minerality, but becomes jammy after that.

Fine fruit, some smoke and minerals, some depth; a sweetish streak through the whole taste curve.

Violent wine, sweet smell and taste, black currants moving towards black current jam. You have to tolerate this very big and sweet style to appreciate this.

Fresh and tart, some brett, structured - difficult to not place this in Bordeaux. Some complexity. Became weaker in the glass after 30 min, so probably not a 100% bottle.

Wonderful depth to the fruit, forest floor, fresh, some camphor, a bit over the hill. Decent complexity, still somewhat unbalanced.

Very muted, and did never open up. Intense wine, hard fruit core of black currants. Just individual elements here, difficult to tell where (if anywhere) this is going.
