Introduction

Great event with the top 3 wines in order for me were:
2004 Clos des Papes
2013 Leeuwin Estate Chardonnay
2005 Anderson's Conn Valley Reserve Cab (even better on day 2)

Flight 1 (14 notes)

White - Sparkling
2009 Roederer Estate L'Ermitage Brut USA, California, North Coast, Anderson Valley

White
2008 Jean et Sébastien Dauvissat Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons Vieilles Vignes France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru
93 points
The best of the Chablis wines for me. Complex with mild oak, shells, sulfur, spice and golden delicious apples. Medium to long finish. Good acidity. Drink now to 2022 for maximum enjoyment.
White
2010 Maison Albert Bichot Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos Domaine Long-Depaquit France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru
89 points
This is not a great Les Clos. Serviceable. Shells, lemon, spice and minerals. Extremely light in nature. Not sure if this will go much longer. Drink now.
White
2012 Vincent Dauvissat (René & Vincent) Chablis 1er Cru La Forest France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru
89 points
Not much going on here. Not bad but not interesting. Shells, green in nature with saline and stone fruit. Short finish. Not sure if this will improve. This pales in comparison to the last bottle I had so maybe just an off bottle.
White
2009 Rhys Chardonnay Alpine Vineyard USA, California, Santa Cruz Mountains
93 points
Now we are talking. Excellent Chardonnay. Oak, apple, wafer, spices and stone fruits. Complex and multilayered wine. Medium to long finish. This is how I like my domestic Chardonnay to taste. 93+ Should have another five plus years of enjoyment.

White
2013 Leeuwin Estate Chardonnay Art Series Australia, Western Australia, South West Australia, Margaret River
94 points
Another great showing in as many weeks. Fresh wine with apples, spice, subtle oak, floral and pear. Complex wine and medium to long finish. I have yet to have a bad Leeuwin Chardonnay
Red
2004 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
92 points
Drinking well with earth, raspberries, stones, floral and dark berries. Medium plus finish. Drink now to 2025. This wine is drinking better than the last time I had it.
Red
2004 Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
95 points
Funk, cherry, raspberries, Garrique, strawberry and minerals. A little bit of everything with this wine. Old School meets New School. Outstanding and this should drink well through 2030. My wine of the night.

2003 Château Branaire-Ducru France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
89 points
Really not a big fan of this wine. Very dry and features earth, walnuts, dark currants and leather. Not sure how much better this will get over time. 88-90.
Red
2014 Louis M. Martini Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley USA, California, Napa Valley
88 points
Very much manufactured Cabernet. While the fruit was nice the oak treatment was off. Alcohol present. Try holding.

1988 Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes

A really nice aged Sauternes. Orange marmalade, limestone, peach, ripe melon and honey suckles. Long finish and good acidity. Drink now to 2028. Excellent.

Apricots, slightly oxidized, orange peel, spice and orange marmalade preserves. Certainly this wine has peek so drink up. Enjoyable overall.
