Flight 1 - Openers (3 notes)

White - Sparkling
1988 Krug Champagne Vintage Brut France, Champagne
95 points
Fully mature, but not tired in the least. Great acid core with wonderful oxidative notes, great body and a long finish.
White - Sparkling
1996 Duval-Leroy Champagne Femme de Champagne France, Champagne
91 points
All there, but just lacking some energy. Good drink on its own, 3/3 in the flight.
White - Sparkling
2002 Salon Champagne Blanc de Blancs Brut France, Champagne
97 points
Wow. Opened and recorked 5 hours ahead of time and it needed every bit. Every time we've had this it was PnP and tight as a drum. Finally I had the time to prep a bottle properly and it showed. Absolutely singing with fruit, acid, body and a long, long finish. This is Salon at its best, built for the long haul. It was still singing for the last sip nearly 10 hours after opening.

Flight 2 - Champagne Flight 1 (2 notes)

White - Sparkling
2000 Krug Champagne Vintage Brut France, Champagne
92 points
Good fruit from the vintage, but this bottle was a bit tired and lacking energy. It was classic Krug richness.
White - Sparkling
2000 Louis Roederer Champagne Cristal Brut France, Champagne
94 points
So young and fresh, it was hard to believe it was 2000. But it's wide open for business and classic lemon with a solid core of acid. This is the one to drink for the next few years while you're waiting for your 2002, 2008, etc.

Flight 3 - Champagne Flight 2 (4 notes)

White - Sparkling
2008 Louis Roederer Champagne Cristal Brut France, Champagne
PnP. Right out of the gate it was wide open and brilliant. Aromas bursting out of the glass and all there on the palate. Could have been WOTF. Unfortunately 10 minutes later it shut down hard and was brutally tight and unyielding for the rest of the evening. Needs many years.

Rosé - Sparkling
2008 Louis Roederer Champagne Cristal Brut Rosé France, Champagne
PnP. Tight, but showing lots of promise with lovely red fruits and great acid.
White - Sparkling
2013 Louis Roederer Champagne Cristal Brut France, Champagne
96 points
PnP. Completely wide open and ready to drink. Such a beautiful wine with elegance and structure. Many say this will be better than the 08 in time, who knows, but it certainly is right now.

PnP. Absolutely wonderful. Beautiful strawberry notes with layer and layers of creamy mousse. Second time having this recently and it was easily best Champ on the table both times. So stunning and elegant.

Flight 4 - Chevy Flight 1 (4 notes)

White
1995 Michel Colin-Deléger et Fils Chevalier-Montrachet France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru
A bit tired. Not pox, but probably would have been lovely a few years ago.
White
2008 Domaine Leflaive Chevalier-Montrachet France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru
95 points
Double decant 1.5 hours in advance. Wonderful wine with all the Chevy goods. Fully mature and ready to drink. Against the younger bottles in the flight it seemed a bit over, but I think on its own it was elegant and beautiful with lots of richness and a nice finish.
White
2010 Domaine Leflaive Chevalier-Montrachet France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru
96 points
Double decant 1.5 hours in advance. Bright and fresh, this was open for business with the mature notes combined with the bright, freshness that you want.
White
2014 Domaine Leflaive Chevalier-Montrachet France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru
98 points
Double decant 1.5 hours in advance. Bright and fresh, this was simply stunning and has all the goods. Layers of white fruits and great body with a beautiful finish.

Flight 5 - Chevy Flight 2 (3 notes)

White
2013 Domaine Ramonet Chevalier-Montrachet France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru
93 points
Double decant 1.5 hours in advance. Open and enjoyable, but not among the best of the night.
White
2015 Jean-Claude Ramonet Chevalier-Montrachet France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru
94 points
Double decant 1.5 hours in advance. More of everything compared to the 13, lots of rich fruit, but lacking definition.
White
2017 Jean-Claude Ramonet Chevalier-Montrachet France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru
95 points
Double decant 1.5 hours in advance. Such a wonderful wine, this has all the pieces together. Great fruit, structure and acidity. Still such a baby. WOTF, but I still preferred the Leflaives as a whole.

Flight 6 - Intermezzo (1 note)

White - Sweet/Dessert
1988 Château d'Yquem France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes
97 points
Supremely dense and delicious and a wonderful intermezzo.

Flight 7 - Moose Flight 1 (4 notes)

Red
1976 Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé Musigny Cuvée Vieilles Vignes France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Musigny Grand Cru
92 points
PnP. Lighter bodied, fruit had faded a bit and lots of tertiary notes. A cerebral experience, but enjoyable.
Red
1990 Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier Musigny France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Musigny Grand Cru
95 points
PnP. So much here. Nose jumped out of the glass from the instant it was poured. I could just smell it all night. Rich and deep with layers of purple fruits and a finish that goes on and on. WOTF and maybe Musigny of the night for me.
Red
1995 Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé Musigny Cuvée Vieilles Vignes France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Musigny Grand Cru
PnP. In the drinking zone and quite enjoyable. Showing a bit over on the shortish finish, time to drink up.
Red
1998 Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé Musigny Cuvée Vieilles Vignes France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Musigny Grand Cru
93 points
PnP. Another one that's drinking very nicely right now, but lacks a bit of weight and interest.

Flight 8 - Moose Flight 2 (4 notes)

Red
2000 Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé Musigny Cuvée Vieilles Vignes France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Musigny Grand Cru
93 points
PnP. Open for business and lovely. Lots of black and purple fruits with tons of flavor. Finish wasn't quite there.
Red
2000 Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier Musigny France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Musigny Grand Cru
94 points
PnP. So much class compared to the Vogue. Really beautiful wine with good acidity and nice weight. The whole package.
Red
2001 Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé Musigny Cuvée Vieilles Vignes France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Musigny Grand Cru
93 points
PnP. Similar to the 2000, this was good, but not great.
Red
2001 Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier Musigny France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Musigny Grand Cru
95 points
PnP. So wonderful, just loads of class and beauty. Dark fruit, but lifted by the acidity and structure with a long finish. Clearly WOTF.

PnP. Loads of power and depth. Shows the vintage well, but surprisingly open and enjoyable. WOTF.
Red
2002 Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé Musigny Cuvée Vieilles Vignes France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Musigny Grand Cru

PnP. Love this vintage. Showing the full package of elegance and power, the iron fist in the velvet glove. Probably best of the Vogue tonight.

Flight 10 - Moose Flight 4 (2 notes)

Red
2007 Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé Musigny Cuvée Vieilles Vignes France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Musigny Grand Cru
93 points
PnP. Lighter and food friendly. Really showed how this is a vintage for drinking in the earlier term.
Red
2007 Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier Musigny France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Musigny Grand Cru
94 points
PnP. Just in the zone right now in terms of aromatics and flavor. This vintage is open for business and really enjoyable, even if it isn't the best wine you'll ever drink.

Flight 11 - Dessert (1 note)

White - Sweet/Dessert
1990 Château d'Yquem France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes
95 points
Very good with layers of candied fruits and good acidity.
