4/22/24, 4:16 AM - I recommend at least a two hour decant. That is how long it took for the wine to open up. It was most impressive about 24 hours after opening, however.
4/22/24, 5:20 AM - Yes, I would open 24 hours prior. If that makes you nervous then go with 12 hours.
4/22/24, 6:16 AM - Understood. Maybe start with four hours?
4/23/24, 6:16 AM - Well described, Decanting Queen.
4/1/24, 8:55 AM - Yes! Given that you and I are both in Atlanta, we should connect.
4/4/24, 5:59 PM - My wife and I would like to be more involved locally. If you learn of any special events, please let me know.
4/22/24, 4:19 AM - Here is a burner account due to privacy concerns on this public app. I will reply with my personal email. CobbBraves@protonmail.com
4/9/24, 5:23 AM - I did not decant, but I drank three glasses over three hours (with the second glass first sitting for an hour).
12/18/23, 1:33 PM - Angular or disjointed? The alcohol level did give me a headache.
11/27/23, 4:55 AM - Not sure how else to describe it!
2/23/23, 4:40 AM - I take notes on every bottle, and that was my last one!
12/29/22, 6:20 AM - I was hosting extended family and balancing different pours for different people. As a result, I did not decant. However, I opened the bottle and let it breathe for an hour before pouring my first glass. Then it was about another hour before the second glass. I highly recommend letting it breathe at a minimum. I think that a one or two hour decant would be best. I was happy with my results under the circumstances.
8/12/22, 7:22 PM - 83?!
3/19/22, 8:03 AM - I prefer the Sage Ridge out of the estate lineup. However, I have not opened a bottle of the 2019 yet (at least per my records). That may happen tonight, or worst case in the next several weeks. More to follow.
3/19/22, 4:23 PM - It does not take much to tempt me and help the community. Notes for the 2019 Sage Ridge are being posted now.
2/4/22, 11:24 AM - No need. Maybe 15 minutes in the glass. If you want to decant, no more than a couple of hours.
11/24/21, 6:36 PM - Not usually my style, but it was worth mentioning from my vantage point given the result from the pairing. Everything simply worked. Not always the case for me. I was really pleased.
11/23/21, 6:20 AM - Fair point. I am not prepared to compare this to the previous vintage. I will try to wait six months before I open the 2019 again. However, I thought that the 2018 was incredible. If the 2019 is better then we are going to very pleased.
7/10/21, 7:34 AM - Yes, I recommend decanting.
7/10/21, 9:03 AM - Yes, I think so.
5/30/21, 6:39 AM - You are correct. The varietals are very different. However, my point is that the styles are very similar. Here is a quote about SQN from thewinecellarinsider.com. I think that it is helpful to describe the NOK too. “The style... at its best is, rich, full bodied, ripe, concentrated, mouth filling, decadent and opulent. The texture can be akin to liquid silk with the density of motor oil.” Anyway, Argot is a really special wine, in particular the Sage Ridge. I think that the best comparison is probably the NOK.
4/10/21, 9:31 PM - How do you numerically rate the two? I am curious about your spread. I will try to drink the wines side by side via Coravin. I am thinking about buying six more of the Association from the current back release.
4/12/21, 3:52 PM - I greatly appreciate your critical feedback. Thanks for everything. What do you think about the other Argot wines?
4/18/21, 9:00 PM - I recommend that you try the Indigo Syrah. It competes with Next of Kyn and Sine Qua Non. While the estate Syrah trails those two comps slightly, the price point is a fraction of the cost of the others. I also really like the PN, although it is a big and lush style; I appreciate this while Burghounds likely reject it. I do not care. I like what I like.
4/6/21, 2:51 PM - The winery selected this wine to taste so I take that as advice to drink now. I think that it just needs a little time in the glass. I cheated by sampling the night before via Coravin. Both times the wine was ready to go approximately 30 minutes after entering the glass.
3/9/21, 1:42 PM - How long will this last?
2/11/21, 4:14 AM - Thank you. I really cannot recommend it enough!
1/18/21, 8:24 PM - Check out my notes - they are phenomenal - and a bargain for the quality.
9/20/20, 1:17 PM - Difficult decision. With 2020, my attitude is enjoy. But I would save it for a special occasion.
6/5/20, 6:32 AM - Thank you. Yes, I would decant this wine.
5/12/20, 4:31 PM - I wanted to attend...
9/5/19, 5:51 PM - I just let it breathe in the bottle.
9/30/18, 12:56 PM - Typically prefer Old World. However, depending on the mood, I now sometimes very much appreciate New World. The style works without food and is nice one day a week. So possible to be sweet and syrupy and 93.
9/11/18, 11:55 AM - Very interesting. My bottle came out of a friend's box set. He gave me a bottle. Ironically, I have just recently been considering the purchase of a box set myself. Let me know if you learn anything more. Thank you.
4/22/18, 2:01 PM - Any recommendations for alternatives going forward?
4/24/18, 7:05 PM - Thanks for your recommendations. I will work through your list. I started by purchasing six bottles of 2010 Bernardus Pinot Noir Pisoni Vineyard for $36.00 each.
3/15/17, 9:43 AM - The wine was not decanted. However, the bottle has been left open to breathe and the wine will be tasted again tonight. Additional notes will be included.
3/16/17, 6:30 AM - The wine was not decanted. Additional notes after breathing the wine for 24 hours: deeper; richer; pencil lead; mustard; maybe a 95.
10/7/16, 1:34 PM - No. Maybe another problem?
10/7/16, 1:33 PM - Mailing list.
5/23/15, 6:38 AM - Exactly. Very confusing.
5/16/15, 11:00 AM - Not sure yet. I will try this again soon and let you know. I will be opening some other 2005 Bordeaux wines this week.
5/18/15, 6:21 AM - At least several more years...
4/10/15, 5:32 PM - Going in per your write up. Will advise.
Thanks for letting us know about this problem. We will review your comments and be in touch soon with an update.
