11/14/23, 1:37 PM - This may be the best CellarTracker user name I've seen so far...
10/5/23, 6:14 PM - It’s the second wine of a Third Growth.
10/6/23, 5:02 AM - The French term is Second Vin, so I think either is appropriate. I’m always excited to learn something new. My intent was to clarify, not troll. I appreciate everyone contributing and sharing on this site.
8/25/23, 5:52 PM - My understand is that the wine is pinot noir/chard 60/40. Don’t think Hebrart has much in the way of Pinot meunier planting. (Though I love the Meunier-forward wines of Mousse also in the Val de Marne)
1/10/23, 12:50 PM - Split is 187 mL; 375 mL is a half bottle. Cheers!
11/12/22, 7:08 AM - Yes, decanted and then gave an hour of air. Not throwing mich sediment btw.
7/25/22, 7:32 AM - For pairings, favorite is chevre or Roquefort. Could do delicate, fruit-based pastry (no chocolate) but find those tricky and that good, older Coteaux du Layon doesn't show well next to anything with sugar. Foie is a classic and worthy match. Younger/simpler Coteaux du Layon is really tasty with Indian food, too. TL/dr: for this wine, a nice piece of chevre and a piece of Roquefort.
6/21/22, 5:07 AM - WyatttheSomm, thanks for the tasting update and dialog. I think '96 has been an interesting vintage--I've found the Left Bank reticent for a quarter century. These may just be starting to hit their stride. A votre sante!
10/4/20, 6:44 PM - Leoville Barton is in Saint-Julien, not Pomerol.
7/2/20, 5:24 AM - Butterscotch worries me about premox.
4/14/20, 6:46 PM - It’s a Fifth Growth.
5/12/19, 12:12 PM - It’s a defective bottle. Bring it back to Moore Brothers
5/12/19, 12:13 PM - It’s a defective bottle. Bring it back to Moore Brothers
2/14/18, 12:21 PM - Are you sure you don’t have a heat damaged or defective bottle?
7/1/17, 11:42 AM - Superb note--thanks
7/22/16, 1:01 PM - Awesome review
1/2/16, 8:47 AM - So, LB03 indicates year of bottling ('03) and '02 is base? Or does Diebolt have a different coding system? Thanks for helping out!
8/29/15, 3:21 PM - Literally freeze the remainder?
4/11/15, 11:32 AM - Well done, centvins.
3/16/15, 9:14 AM - 2010 was a banner year in Barolo. While Barbaresco is geographically close, it suffered severe rains at harvest, damaging the crops. For this reason Produttori decided not to offer any of their single vintage bottlings (e.g. Rio Sordo) and instead put everything into their basic bottling. Of course, De gustibus non est disputandum.
1/25/15, 10:24 AM - Did you drink at altitude or on the ground? Would make a big difference in the tasting notes.
12/28/14, 5:09 AM - I'm worried the butterscotch may portend prem ox. I haven't had good luck with my old Chidaine wines.
5/6/14, 10:07 AM - Calon Segur is in Saint-Estephe.
4/29/14, 6:49 AM - I think 2004 has been a great vintage from the get-go. It's a classic style (subtle claret, not New World bomb) that has aged gracefully. The '04 Leoville and Langoa have another 25 years in them, at least.
11/27/13, 10:19 AM - You may have an oxidized bottle. My prior tastings of the wine were nothing like that. A bit top heavy perhaps, but not "off" by any means.
7/9/13, 5:28 PM - Consistent notes tonight (7/09/13). Tiny bit of grapefruit in the nose, then solid body with some walnut bitterness. Pronounced river stone and then salinity on the finish. Nice.
6/10/13, 10:50 AM - Sounds like amyl-actetate--you likely had a defective bottle.
5/11/13, 12:16 PM - Last tried this appx. 2 yrs ago. Beautiful note; really captured this wine.
